Crushing Candelabra (Tank)

Winter Tharja entered the fray last year with a tome in hand and a certain tactician in mind. As an armored mage, she can take advantage of both Fighter skills and the various Armor-exclusive skills. Overall, Winter Tharja is a very powerful unit.

WEAPON
To ensure that Winter Tharja keeps both her physical and magical bulk intact, using a tome with a defensive refine, such as Candelabra+ (+Def), will help heighten Winter Tharja's ability to tank hits from powerful foes.

ASSIST
Movement skills are always welcome additions to any unit. Winter Tharja can use movement skills like Swap to move across the map a bit more easily. Ardent Sacrifice can instead be used to push Winter Tharja into Brazen effect range while healing allies who may be weaker.

SPECIAL
Aether helps Winter Tharja sustain herself while on the frontlines by offering self-healing. If Aether is unavailable, Ignis plays off of Winter Tharja's very high 34 base Defense to deal crushing damage to foes who try to get into her range. Glacies is another strong Special that plays off of her equally strong Resistance stat to deal large amounts of damage.

A
Close Counter, Winter Tharja's default A skill, allows her to take on melee foes. This means she can combat physical opponents that she may otherwise have to spend the Player Phase KOing.

B
Like it has been previously noted, Winter Tharja is capable of using the armor-exclusive Fighter skills to change the tide of combat. Her base Vengeful Fighter allows her to charge her Special very quickly, and when her enemy attacks first, she will be able to make a follow-up attack. This is perfect for Winter Tharja, as her appallingly low Speed will leave her susceptible to doubles (or quads) from just about every unit in the game.

C
Atk Ploy will hinder Tharja's opponents' ability to deal meaningful damage to her. Atk Ploy is specifically chosen, as other Ploy skills are hard to find or, in the case of Def Ploy, unusable. Since Winter Tharja sports such a high Resistance, she can use Ploy skills to punish low-Res challengers who may threaten her. If using an armor-centered team composition, considering an Armor skill, such as Ward Armor, may be taken instead to boost Winter Tharja's allies during combat.

SACRED SEAL
Running Brazen Atk/Res 3 in the Sacred Seal slot will allow Winter Tharja to become an even more intense threat when she takes a certain amount of damage. With a boost, Winter Tharja will shred through enemies with an Attack of 56 without buffs. Armor buffs can easily push her over 60 Attack, while her Resistance boost granting her more bulk against mages and dragon foes. Atk/Def Bond can also be considered if Winter Tharja wants to boost her offensive capabilities while maintaining her HP. This will also rise her defensive capabilities against physical damage. (Consider Rauðrowl+ as a weapon substitute to Candelabra+ if Winter Tharja will be adjacent to many allies. It will further boost her stats.)
