Tier List

This list is currently outdated as of the skill inheritance update. We are currently working on a new tier list based on the skill inheritance mechanic.

The following rankings are provisional and are subject to change as the meta develops. This tier list is designed for use in the Arena, but most heroes will perform similarly in PvE modes such as the Main Story or Special Missions.

Hero Explanation
Hector

Pros:

  • Fantastic bulk
  • Can deal great physical damage
  • Able to counterattack at 2 range
  • Strong at choke-points
  • Can make follow-up counter-attacks above 80% HP

Cons:

  • Only 1 movement
  • Low Speed and Resistance

Hector is a physical, defensive powerhouse, with fantastic HP, Attack and Defense stats. With strong active and passive skills, Hector can act as a strong defensive core to any team. Though his axe makes him weak to a multitude of common red units, he is a brilliant counter to any blue units an enemy team might have: even mages thanks to Distant Counter and the Armads weapon effect. His fantastic offensive and defensive presence, as well as his good utility makes Hector a great choice on any team.

    Takumi

    Pros:

    • Ranged colorless damage
    • Good against flying units
    • Can be tricky to KO safely

    Cons:

    • Low Resistance
    • Lower damage than other ranged attackers

Takumi is a colorless ranged bow-user with great damage and powerful skills. Unlike other ranged attackers, he can counter-attack at close range, making him annoying to deal with. Takumi has lower damage than other ranged attackers, but compensates by having fewer weaknesses than them. He’s a very reliable pick for Arena teams and will perform against nearly any team composition.

    Linde

    Pros:

    • Incredibly powerful mage
    • Strong counter to many common units
    • Decent passive skills

    Cons:

    • Extremely frail
    • No offensive special skill

Linde is a frighteningly powerful blue mage with very high attack and speed, making her a top choice in punching through enemy teams with immense power. Though she does not have a special skill like Robin (M), Linde more than makes up for it with potential caps of 52 attack or 42 speed depending on where her high value lies. Linde's incredible power, range and her triangle advantage versus red units makes her a formidable threat on many teams.

    Tier 1.5
    Hero Explanation
    azura

    Pros:

    • Sing is an incredibly powerful support skill
    • Surprisingly high Attack and Speed
    • Useful in both hyper-offensive or hyper-defensive teams

    Cons:

    • Extremely frail
    • Sometimes difficult to include in a team of four

Azura is a lance-wielding songstress with a unique support ability: Sing. Arguably the strongest support skill in the game, it allows an allied unit to take another action within the player phase. This turns Azura into a powerful support unit with great utility, with decent offensive presence to boot. However, Azura has incredibly poor defenses, so she requires a lot of support from the rest of her team to keep her safe.

      Lucina

      Pros:

      • Great physical damage
      • Very good speed, especially when below 50% HP
      • Bonus damage against dragons
      • Powerful skills
      • Useful weapon effect

      Cons:

      • Very low defense and resistance
      • Struggles versus range

Lucina is a powerful red sword-wielder with great attack and speed as well as a bonus versus dragon units, making her an effective frontline unit or dragon counter. Combined with the choice between two powerful special skills: Aether and Luna and her two useful passive skills, Lucina is a particularly threatening unit in the current metagame.

      Robin

      Pros:

      • High defense for a tome-user
      • Effective against two types
      • Ranged magic damage

      Cons:

      • Weighted poorly in Arena ranking
      • Easily worn down in combat

Robin(M) is a versatile ranged attacker with balanced stats. He is atypical to other tome users, with a high defense and low resistance. While he may appear underwhelming at first, his weapon's trait along with his blue typing make him a powerful anti-meta threat.

      Effie

      Pros:

      • Solid defense stat
      • Great counter to sword-wielders
      • Strong support skills
      • Wary Fighter grants fantastic survivability

      Cons:

      • Easy to kite
      • Very vulnerable below 50% HP

Effie boasts impressive attack and defense, with strong passive skills to boot. Death Blow provides an attack bonus upon initiating combat, whereas Wary Fighter will prevent her from taking follow-up attacks, allowing her to tank for longer. This makes Effie a great choice for dealing with the ever-present variety of sword-wielding lords. Effie's high stat total makes her a strong pick for those looking to maximise their arena scores.

        Ryoma

        Pros:

        • Impressive physical attack power
        • Respectable speed
        • Can counterattack at 2 range
        • Great passive and active skills

        Cons:

        • Low resistance makes him susceptible to mages and dragons
        • Skills can sometimes be hard to use to full effect.

Ryoma, true to Fire Emblem Fates, is an immensely powerful physical damage dealer with incredible Attack and impressive Speed. His unique weapon, Raijinto, allows him to counterattack enemies outside of melee range; allowing him to duel ranged units reasonably well. His skills also have great synergy, augmenting his already impressive attack power and buffing the speed of nearby allies.

          Nowi

          Pros:

          • Weighted strongly in Arena
          • Ranged counterattack
          • Useful support abilities
          • Excellent bulk

          Cons:

          • Has many common counters
          • Very low speed

Nowi is a blue dragon with great stats and abilities that make her somewhat of a counter to the metagame that revolves around red units. Her coveted ranged counter lets her trade heavy magic damage onto whoever attacks her. Her stats and abilities lend to her role as a frontline tank, but Nowi must watch out for some key threats to her existence.

          Eirika

          Pros:

          • Great adjacency buffs
          • Strong utility in Pivot and Draw Back
          • Great speed
          • Good resistance

          Cons:

          • Lower attack than similar units
          • Very vulnerable to common blue units

Eirika is a more support-oriented red unit, with a fantastic array of support and utility skills. Unlike units such as Ryoma or Lucina, Eirika's primary role in a team will not be to deal damage, but rather to buff the attack and speed of adjacent allies and pull enemy units into range of ranged partners. Whilst Eirika may not be as strong as many of her competitors, she provides great utility by allowing teams to isolate enemy units and bolster the offensive prowess of damage dealers.

          Julia

          Pros:

          • Powerful mage
          • Effective counter for mages
          • Effective against dragons

          Cons:

          • Low speed
          • Low Defense

Julia is a powerful green mage with high attack and high resistance, making her an ideal choice to deal with blue mages. Julia’s skill set allows her to effectively battle enemy mages thanks to her resistance buffs, but the rest of her skills are a bit underwhelming. Her low defense and speed stats make her a target for red sword users which means positioning is key to using her effectively.

          Klein

          Pros:

          • High damage output
          • Great special and passive skills
          • Ranged colourless damage
          • Brave Bow allows for OHKOs

          Cons:

          • Poor stat total
          • Low defense and resistance

Klein is an archer who excels at dealing high damage through his strong special and passive skills. Though his attack and speed stats seem underwhelming, these are compensated for by his Brave Bow+ and Death Blow, which allow Klein to deal surprisingly high amounts of damage when he initiates combat. His defense and resistance are very low however, so good positioning is crucial unless one of his teammates can re-position him.

          Ninian

          Pros:

          • Dance is incredibly powerful
          • Great HP
          • Flexible addition to many teams
          • Escape Route grants fantastic coverage

          Cons:

          • Low BST
          • Vulnerable to Falchion/Naga
          • Weak in direct combat

Ninian is a dancer with surprisingly good bulk when compared to similar units such as Azura and Olivia. Her respectable speed stat alongside a great HP stat allows her to avoid crucial follow-up attacks against Lucina and Marth, surviving on very little HP. Escape Route synergises very well with Dance, as it allows Ninian to grant an ally an extra turn from anywhere on the map. Her dragon typing does give her a weakness to common units however, all of whom will KO Ninian if she has already taken even a small amount of damage. Her low BST will also impact arena scores.

          Tier 2
          Hero Explanation
          Abel

          Pros:

          • Fantastic counter to sword-wielders
          • Good bulk
          • Good mobility

          Cons:

          • Struggles below half health
          • Low speed makes him weak to follow up attacks

Abel is a powerful, lance-wielding mounted unit who can make an effective front-line or duelist character. He is highly recommended on any team that struggles to deal with red sword wielding units such as Ryoma, Lucina, Ryoma or Hana: the combination of the Brave Lance+ and the Swordbreaker skill allows him to OHKO these units quite often.

          Catria

          Pros:

          • Excellent defenses
          • Good mobility
          • Very useful debuff

          Cons:

          • Weak to archers
          • Countered by common units

Catria is a mobile all-rounder with good offensive and defense stats. She is an excellent duelist, thanks to her passive abilities increasing her bulk significantly. Catria can be thought of as a frontline unit, despite her weakness to bows. Her viability is hurt by the presence of common units in the Arena.

          Leo

          Pros:

          • Great magical damage
          • Good mobility
          • Respectable defense and resistance
          • Fantastic wallbreaker
          • Able to kite enemies with Brynhildr

          Cons:

          • Must rely on a healer to make follow up attacks
          • Blazing Light can be hard to pull use to full potential
          • Competes with many other red units

Leo is a mounted mage with respectable attack and decent defenses. Thanks to his special and passive skills, Leo can serve as a phenomenal wallbreaker: he can deal immense AoE damage with Savage Blow and Blazing Light, though the latter skill can be hard to charge up in time. Leo is also a reasonably strong duelist thanks to Quick Riposte, but this does not fully compensate for his mediocre speed.

            Nino

            Pros:

            • Strong offenses
            • Good support abilities
            • Ranged, magic damage

            Cons:

            • Low defense
            • Red units very common
            • Requires team support

Nino is a green ranged unit known for her strong offenses and resistance. She fulfills the role of ranged damage dealer, but also brings some support abilities to the team. Her low defense characterizes her as a glass cannon; She is easily KO'd by physical damage, and must be played carefully to yield results.

            Tharja

            Pros:

            • Powerful mage
            • Incredibly fast with Darting Blow
            • Useful special skill

            Cons:

            • Very low defense
            • Slower during enemy phase

Tharja's fantastic attack and speed stats allow her to perform the role of a magical damage carry similarly to Linde. When initiating combat, Tharja boasts an absurd 43 speed, allowing her to make follow-up attacks against most units in the game. This makes it very easy for Tharja to OHKO a unit on the player phase, though her poor defenses leave her incredibly vulnerable on the enemy phase.

            Kagero

            Pros:

            • Effective mage lurer/killer
            • Excellent matchup spread
            • Colorless ranged damage
            • Easy to use and support

            Cons:

            • Very low HP and Defense
            • Weak against non-infantry
            • Weighted poorly in Arena ranking

Kagero is a colorless dagger-user with high damage potential. Unlike the other dagger-users, she does not rely on debuffs or healing, instead supporting the team with high ranged damage. She fits the archetype of a “Glass Cannon”, possessing a powerful offense coupled with paper-thin defenses.

            Sharena

            Pros:

            • High stat total
            • Great support abilities
            • Strong against common red units

            Cons:

            • Low Resistance
            • Debuff often applies after combat

Sharena is a Blue Lance wielding fighter who also provides great team support through her buffs and AOE debuff. She is a versatile character equipped to deal with the red units that overrun the Arena. Promoting her from two to five stars requires investment, but is well worth it. Her strong abilities and high stat total make her a very solid Arena pick.

            Cordelia

            Pros:

            • Great offensive flier
            • Strong special skill options in Astra and Galeforce
            • Fantastic counter to sword-wielders

            Cons:

            • Weak passive skills
            • Extremely weak to archers
            • Vulnerable to follow-up attacks

Cordelia is a mobile, lance-wielding flier with impressive attack and great duelling potential. Triangle Adept makes her strengths and weaknesses are straight-forward: she is a fantastic counter to red units, but has awful matchups against blue units. She has two strong special skills in Astra and Galeforce, but her passives skills are much more underwhelming.

              Marth

              Pros:

              • Strong attack and speed
              • Bonus damage versus dragons
              • Useful support skill

              Cons:

              • Low resistance
              • Outclassed as a damage carry and as a dragon killer

Marth is a relatively balanced hero, with high attack and speed alongside decent defense and HP stats. Pivot makes him a particularly mobile damage dealer who can enter the frontline or retreat quickly. However, despite being one of the most iconic characters in the franchise, Marth faces stiff competition from many other units who provide better offensive strength or more useful support skills.

                Ephraim

                Pros:

                • Fantastic attack and defense stats
                • Very short skill charge time
                • Good buffs and debuffs

                Cons:

                • Low speed and resistance
                • Passive skills work against eachother
                • Faces competition from faster lance wielders

Ephraim is a bulky lance wielder with exceptional power thanks to his fantastic attack stat and his special skill Moonbow. Ephraim also possesses interesting support capabilities: Siegmund allows him to boost the attack of nearby allies whereas his passive skills lower his enemy's defense, often making the difference between a OHKO or 2HKO. However, his low speed means that he will be vulnerable to follow-up attacks, making it difficult to keep him alive when faced against archers and mages.

                Tiki (Young)

                Pros:

                • Amazing stat total and distribution
                • Immense AoE damage through Rising Flame
                • Weighted well in Arena

                Cons:

                • Counters are extremely common
                • Low speed

Tiki is a red dragon tank with great attack and defensive stats. She is an adept frontline unit, capable of dishing out and taking heavy damage. Her great stat total and abilities make her a desirable Arena pick, but her low speed and dragon weapon leave her with exploitable weaknesses.

                Reindhart

                Pros:

                • High damage magic wielder
                • High movement + range
                • Powerful AoE special
                • Strong passive skill in Vantage

                Cons:

                • Laughable speed
                • Low BST
                • Medicore HP and defenses

Reinhardt is a powerful mounted mage with great power and mobility. With three movement and two range , Reinhardt provides great map coverage and can chase units effectively. Though his speed is among one of the lowest in the game, sitting at an average of 18 (yes, 18) at level 40, this is offset by his Dire Thunder weapon. This tome operates similarly to Brave weapons, meaning that Reinhardt will still be able to make follow-up attacks despite his abysmal speed stat. Therefore, Reinhardt can be a rather fearsome mage, capable of confidently OHKOing several common units.

                Lyn

                Pros:

                • Fantastic speed
                • Very high damage output - especially below 50% HP
                • Strong special skills

                Cons:

                • Low defense and resistance
                • Outclassed before she falls below 50% HP
                • Skills have long charge times

Lyn is a powerful damage carry with a range of strong, offensive skills and fantastic speed. In addition, her passive and weapon skills grant Lyn fantastic offensive capability once she falls below half HP, allowing Lyn to deal immense damage to enemy teams. With that said however, Lyn remains incredibly frail: her defenses are nothing to write home about, and her tendency to be below 50% HP to trigger her skills makes her a large target for enemy units.

                Karel

                Pros:

                • Fantastic attack and speed
                • High HP stat
                • Very high damage output - especially below 50% HP
                • Powerful special skill

                Cons:

                • Low defense and resistance
                • Reliant on falling below 50% HP
                • Very vulnerable to range

Karel is a powerful sword-wielder whose play-style relies on making good use of his powerful special and passive skills at low HP. With a short, two turn cooldown on his special skill, the Wo Dao boosting the damage of his special skill by +10, and an extra +7 attack from Defiant Atk, Karel can deal immense damage when attacking with low HP. This high-risk, high-reward playstyle makes him similar to Lyn, though he trades a small amount of speed for greater damage through his special skills.

                Corrin

                Pros:

                • Powerful debuffs and buffs
                • Magic damage
                • Not hard countered by Falchions
                • High Speed for a tank

                Cons:

                • Low Resistance
                • Debuffs and buffs require careful play to use effectively
                • Competes with other Dragons for team slots

Female Corrin’s abilities and stat spread allow her to tank physical damage and greatly boost the effectiveness of offensive units. She is atypical to the other Dragonstone users, possessing high Speed, low Resistance and the ability to fight Falchion users. Her stats and abilities lean toward offensive support, but the nature of her debuffs means she must be positioned carefully.

                Jaffar

                Pros:

                • Colorless ranged damage
                • Powerful debuffing abilities
                • Can fit on nearly any team

                Cons:

                • Weighted poorly in Arena
                • Cannot outright OHKO many units

Jaffar is a colourless ranged assassin. His specialty is outputting damage from a distance to either finish off enemies or set them up for team-mates to KO. Jaffar should be thought of in the same vein as Kagero and Takumi, but brings a special mix of abilities to the field. Jaffar can make problem targets much easier to deal with for your team, and with his colourless ranged damage and triple stat debuff, should be regarded as a top threat in the Arena.

                Tier 3
                Hero Explanation
                Sanaki

                Pros:

                • Huge ranged damage
                • Good support abilities
                • Straightforward and easy to use

                Cons:

                • Very weak against blue
                • Low defense and speed

Sanaki is a magical glass cannon who brings value to her team with powerful ranged damage and team buffing support. While she struggles in some regards, such as her low speed and defense, her boons are more than enough to warrant use on a team.

                Roy

                Pros:

                • High attack stat
                • Surprisingly bulky
                • Incredibly strong versus green units
                • Some utility from Shove

                Cons:

                • Outclassed by many other red lords
                • Does not excel in any area
                • Suffers penalties against blue units

Roy is a sword-wielder with incredibly balanced stats: with a BST of 174, all of his stats are respectable. His skills reflect this as well: the Sealed Sword boosts both his Def and Res whereas Triangle Advantage increases his attack against blue units. Unfortunately, Roy's jack of all trades nature means that he is only really good at taking out green units, which are already the most uncommon unit type.

                  Eldigan

                  Pros:

                  • Fantastic attack and defense
                  • High stat total
                  • High movement
                  • Strong special attack

                  Cons:

                  • Passive skills leave him vulnerable
                  • Competes for a spot with red lords
                  • Mediocre speed
                  • Low resistance

Eldigan is a powerful, sword wielding cavalier with outstanding attack and defense. His high mobility makes him a capable poacher, who can rush in to secure skills on weakened enemies or squishy mages. He also packs a strong, albeit difficult to charge, special skill in Growing Light, which can deal strong AoE damage. It is very easy for Eldigan to over-extend however: his low speed and resistance coupled with Lunge can leave Eldigan in range of several enemy units.

                  Camilla

                  Pros:

                  • Good mobility
                  • Reasonable damage output
                  • Decent AoE damage

                  Cons:

                  • Struggles in the current meta
                  • Very vulnerable on the enemy phase

Camilla is a flying unit with good mobility and good offensive presence. She excels at dealing considerable damage when initiating combat thanks to Darting Blow and her Brave Axe, but will struggle to take hits on the enemy phase. With a +Spd nature, Camilla will have 25 speed due to the -5 penalty from the Brave Axe. Camilla's viability is also hindered by the many red sword-wielders frequenting the arena, Camilla's mediocre stats and low speed leaves her very vulnerable.

                    Olwen

                    Pros:

                    • High damage magic wielder
                    • High movement + range
                    • Strong support skill in Reposition
                    • Great resistance

                    Cons:

                    • Very low BST
                    • Medicore HP and defenses

Compared to her brother Reinhardt, Olwen is more of a support oriented unit. She has lower HP, attack and defense in exchange for higher speed and resistance, but her defining feature is Reposition: this skill allows Olwen to pull units out of enemy attack range, which can have a huge impact when used on high-damage glass cannons who can OHKO enemy units. Olwen makes it easier to achieve deathless arena runs, but the trade off is her low BST. Though effective, she is very reliant on the rest of the team.

                    Jeorge

                    Pros:

                    • Great ranged colorless damage
                    • Powerful against flying units
                    • Can be tricky to KO safely

                    Cons:

                    • Mediocre BST
                    • Lower damage than mages
                    • Flyers aren't very common

Jeorge is a strong ranged attacker with relatively balanced stats, but a powerful special skill. His respectable resistance stat and weapon effect will give him better matchups against mages than Takumi, whereas his special skill will almost always guarantee a OHKO if he can charge it up. Jeorge's subpar HP and defensive stats will make this tricky however.

                    Rebecca

                    Pros:

                    • Ranged colorless damage
                    • Good against flying units
                    • Fantastic speed when initiating combat

                    Cons:

                    • Mediocre attack
                    • No special skill
                    • Low HP and defense

Rebecca is a colorless ranged bow-user with high speed and a support-oriented skillset. Darting Blow allows Rebecca to hit 40 speed when initiating combat with a neutral speed value, allowing her to consistently make follow-up attacks. Her support and passive skills make her a useful teammate, as she can give her health to weakened allies or lower the attack of enemies after combat. This makes her a useful teammate, though Takumi is the superior choice for a damage dealer as Rebecca has mediocre attack and no special skill.

                    Minerva

                    Pros:

                    • Great mobility
                    • Some of the strongest offensive stats in the game with Life and Death
                    • Extremely short special skill charge time

                    Cons:

                    • Extremely weak to archers
                    • Low resistance, made worse with Life and Death
                    • Struggles in the current meta

With phenomenal attack and speed stats thanks to Life and Death, Minerva is a menacing offensive powerhouse with great mobility and serious firepower. Her offensive capabilities exceed those of her closest rival, Camilla, though her defensive stats are much weaker. Despite her incredible strength, her frail defenses and the fact that her counters are very common hurt her viability severely.

                      Chrom

                      Pros:

                      • High damage output
                      • Great defense
                      • Bonus damage versus dragons
                      • Good self-sustain through Falchion and Sol/Aether

                      Cons:

                      • Low resistance
                      • Poor speed
                      • Struggles versus range

Chrom is a bulky dragon slayer and wallbreaker, possessing high attack and defense stats with the Falchion granting bonus damage against dragons. Packing two strong special skills and some reasonably useful passive skills, Chrom can be a difficult unit for enemy melee units to take out thanks to his great survivability. However, Chrom's low speed and resistance compared to Lucina and Marth make him the weakest option of the three for a dragon slayer, and he also struggles against common ranged threats.

                      Hinoka

                      Pros:

                      • Good mobility
                      • Good attack
                      • Fantastic special skill
                      • Great versus sword-wielding lords

                      Cons:

                      • Extremely weak to archers
                      • Lacklustre defense and resistance
                      • Long skill charge time

Hinoka is a flying unit with mediocre speed and defensive stats, but strong attack and a powerful special skill. Hinoka excels at taking out red infantry thanks to her respectable attack and her Brave Lance+, but a low speed stat leaves her vulnerable to counterattacks. Though strong, Hinoka is something of a one-trick pony that may struggle without support from the rest of the team.

                        Merric

                        Pros:

                        • Reasonable magical damage
                        • Bonus damage vs. flyers
                        • Respectable bulk
                        • Strong special skill

                        Cons:

                        • Lower damage than other mages
                        • Poor resistance
                        • Mediocre speed
                        • Suffers in the current metagame.

Merric is a green tome user with surprisingly high bulk and respectable damage. Though his attack and speed are relatively sub-par, his strong special skill and great survivability can make him a very useful unit. He faces stiff competition from Nino and Julia however, as his damage output is much lower. Bonus damage versus flyers is also a noteworthy niche.

                        Selena

                        Pros:

                        • Well-rounded stats
                        • Great support abilities

                        Cons:

                        • Weak against non-green
                        • Faces stiff competition for a team slot

Selena is a balanced fighter who brings some damage, support and sturdiness to a team. She is a jack of all trades unit who can perform many tasks, but none as well as specialists in their roles. She is often forgotten over units such as Lucina, Olivia and Young Tiki, but is a viable choice with her good stats and support abilities.

                        Lon'qu

                        Pros:

                        • Powerful physical attacker
                        • Unrivalled speed
                        • Strong special and passive skills

                        Cons:

                        • Extremely frail
                        • Vulnerable to range
                        • Competes for a team slot

With a base of 42 speed before IVs, Lon'qu is one of the fastest units in the game. Coupled with a reasonable attack stat and a 2 turn special skill, Lon'qu can deal some major damage to the enemy team. His defenses are poor, but his high speed makes it impossible for enemy units to make follow-up attacks against him without skills. Vantage is also an excellent skill, as it makes it much trickier for enemy melee units to approach Lon'qu. He remains incredibly weak to ranged attacks however.

                        Seliph

                        Pros:

                        • High stat rating
                        • Very high HP and defense
                        • Able to take some hits and deal big damage

                        Cons:

                        • Does not have much utility
                        • Somewhat low speed and resistance

Seliph is a high bulk unit with very little to no utility outside of that. He possesses a very large health pool and high attack power allowing him to do really big damage against enemies with low defense. Having the highest stat rating of the red swords makes him helpful in Arena ranking but has little to offer in the way of team play. His passives do have some benefits but are less effective overall compared to a character like Lyn.

                        Tier 4
                        Hero Explanation
                        Alfonse

                        Pros:

                        • Extremely high attack
                        • Good HP and defense
                        • Good special skill

                        Cons:

                        • Mediocre speed
                        • Low resistance
                        • Competes for a team slot
                        • Requires a lot of work
                        • Cannot be merged

Alfonse is a red sword user who can deal incredible damage when initiating combat thanks to his high attack stat and Death Blow. He has decent survivability thanks to his special skill and defense stat, but his low resistance means that Alfonse will struggle to take hits from mages, whilst his speed stat also leaves much to be desired. Lastly, as one of the starting units, Alfonse requires a lot of training to be competitive. Coupled with the oversaturation of red sword-wielding units, it is difficult to recommend investing in Alfonse when several other options are available.

                        Anna

                        Pros:

                        • Fantastic offensive stats
                        • Good special and passive skills

                        Cons:

                        • Low defense
                        • Long charge time on special skills
                        • Requires a lot of work
                        • Cannot be merged

Anna is an axe-user with fantastic attack and speed stats, allowing her to sweep through teams with ease under the right circumstances. As one of the starting units, she is available to every player from the beginning of the game. However, she will require a lot of training and investment to be on par with units that are available through summoning.

                        Corrin

                        Pros:

                        • Great attack stat
                        • Respectable speed stat
                        • Decent special skill
                        • Surprisingly good defense

                        Cons:

                        • Struggles to compete with other lords like Ryoma or Lucina
                        • Low resistance

A quick look at Corrin's stats reveals a fantastic attack stat, respectable speed stat and reasonably high defense stat. These great baseline stats make Corrin a great choice for a strong physical attacker, and his weapon and special skills help him perform this role admirably. With a +Spd nature, Corrin will have 39 Spd when initiating combat: enough to make follow-up attacks against many common threats. Unfortunately, Corrin does little which Lucina cannot do better: she has better availability, higher attack and speed and better passive skills.

                          Caeda

                          Pros:

                          • Good mobility
                          • Fantastic speed and resistance
                          • Powerful counter to Hector

                          Cons:

                          • Extremely weak to archers
                          • Mediocre defense
                          • Competition from red lords

Caeda is a flying sword wielder with phenomenal speed and some useful support tools at her disposal. She wields an Armorslayer+, giving her a useful niche as a mobile knight killer. This means that Caeda is arguably the best answer to Hector. Beyond that niche, her usefulness is limited: though her attack is somewhat low, Caeda will make follow-up attacks against almost every unit in the game when initiating combat, allowing her to weaken enemies for other allies to kill.

                          Draug

                          Pros:

                          • Incredible physical defense
                          • Fast-charging special
                          • High speed for a tank

                          Cons:

                          • Lunge is risky
                          • Low attack and resistance
                          • Limited movement
                          • Lower stat total than other knights

Draug is a red knight with more well-rounded stats than most knights and a respectable speed. With his Brave Sword, he is one of the only knights able to score double attacks on foes. However, this comes at the cost of attack power, and he still bears the critical weakness to magic that knights have. Draug can be succinctly described as a less viable alternative to Hector and Effie, having a much weaker attack but higher speed.

                          Bartre

                          Pros:

                          • Fantastic attack
                          • Great HP and defense
                          • Decent skill synergy
                          • Great BST

                          Cons:

                          • Awful resistance
                          • Mediocre speed
                          • Somewhat niche
                          • Outclassed by mages

Bartre boasts a fantastic 181 BST, with a fantastic attack stat complimented by strong HP and defense stats. This allows Bartre to duel enemy units quite well, but he struggles against common sword-wielders. Wielding a Hammer gives Bartre a noteworthy niche as a strong knight-killer however, so he is worth considering if your team struggles against Effie or Hector.

                          Peri

                          Pros:

                          • Strong offensive presence with Glimmer
                          • Good mobility
                          • Decent versus magical units

                          Cons:

                          • Poor HP
                          • Incredibly outclassed by Abel
                          • Underwhelming passive skills

Peri is a mounted lance user with good offensive capabilities thanks to the synergy between her weapon and special skills: the Killer Lance+ means that it takes only two turns for Peri to charge her special skill Glimmer. This gives Peri a consistent damage boost to her attacks. Despite this, it is hard to recommend Peri over Abel, or even over other blue units such as Robin (M) or Linde

                            Tier 5
                            Hero Explanation
                            Elise

                            Pros:

                            • Good healing capability
                            • Very mobile
                            • Useful weapon skill
                            • Can sustain herself through Live to Serve

                            Cons:

                            • Weaker passive skills than other healers
                            • Low BST
                            • Not recommended on PvP teams

Elise is a mobile healer with best suited to aggressive teams, with decent options for special skills. However, her passive skills are weaker compared to other healers such as Sakura. Though her high movement and weapon effect makes her good at kiting, her low BST makes it hard to recommend Elise to those looking to maximise their arena scores.

                              Sakura

                              Pros:

                              • Good defense-oriented healer
                              • Good buffs and debuffs

                              Cons:

                              • Low BST
                              • Not recommended on PvP teams

Sakura is a healer that is best used on more defensive teams, due to her special and passive skills. Players can also choose whether to use a Mend or Physic staff, both of which have advantages and disadvantages. However, as a healer she possesses a very low BST, making it hard to recommend her to those chasing high arena scores.

                              Arthur

                              Pros:

                              • Good HP and attack
                              • Fantastic counter to lance wielders

                              Cons:

                              • Niche usage
                              • Heavily outclassed
                              • Mediocre speed
                              • Low resistance

With his great attack stat, the Emerald Axe+ and the Lancebreaker skill, Arthur can demolish almost every lance wielder in the game with ease. He has decent survivability thanks to his respectable HP and defense stats, which give him greater value out of Lancebreaker. Beyond that however, Arthur has very little going for him. This makes it hard to recommend him over other green units such as HectorJulia or Nino

                              Est

                              Pros:

                              • High attack
                              • Solid resistance
                              • Can reliably debuff speed

                              Cons:

                              • Heavy Lance is rarely useful
                              • Low HP and defense
                              • Weak to archers

Est is a flying lance-user most notable for her high attack and solid resistance. While she has some solid stats, her skills and abilities don’t synergise well together, and are further hurt by metagame trends. She can have some useful niches but is otherwise utterly outclassed as both a flyer and a lance user.

                              Lachesis

                              Pros:

                              • Decent defense-oriented healer
                              • Good buffs

                              Cons:

                              • Sakura is generally better
                              • Low BST
                              • Not recommended on PvP teams

Lachesis is a healer with many similarities to Sakura, and as such is best suited to defensive teams  due to her special and passive skills. Lachesis is flexible in that players can choose whether to use a Mend or Physic staff, both of which have advantages and disadvantages. However, as a healer she possesses a very low BST, making it hard to recommend her to those chasing high arena scores.
