Zephiel tank build question

Hi! I've been wanting to build Zephiel for a while, and I have two main builds planned for him:

The first one would have Sturdy Stance, Vengeful Fighter and Ignis. I was planning on keeping Eckesachs for the -6 Def debuff, but at the same time I could go with Wo Dao for a boosted Ignis or Safeguard, too. Seal would be either Atk/Def Bond or Close Defense.

The other build I had in mind ran Brazen Atk/Def, Vantage and Deflect Melee seal. I've seen this build work on Michalis, for example, although in his case he gets to have the +10 dmg and Ignis, which Zephiel kinda makes up for with the Threaten Defense effect on his weapon(kinda, not completely).

Which one do you think would be better?

If you have any other suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them. I have Steady Breath available but it's on units I use(especially my Gwendolyn, guess I could fodder off the Garon I have built since I was going to fodder one for Panic Ploy), but no DC(if I had probably I wouldn't be asking this question). I gave him panic ploy as a seal since he has one of the highest HP stats in the game. Otherwise, his refine is nice I think especially with ranged units becoming more relevant with duel skills and AR. Maybe Fortress Def/Res would be an option at some point?

If only I had Fortress Def/Res. Great suggestion. I was thinking about Panic Ploy as B skill because the Brazen Vantage build requires Deflect Melee seal and for the Vengeful Fighter one I tend to prefer Close Defense, but I had totally forgotten about PP seal. Thanks a lot!

You could go for a close def seal on the vengeful fighter build. Then you'll cover your defences

Another option is going for full tank with wary fighter. That way you'll get the most use out of the threaten def effect.

Damn I had totally forgotten about Wary Fighter helping the Threaten Effect. It’s a good idea, although I usually prefer helping onerounding as much as possible. I’ll give it a try. Thank you very much!

The best build for Zephiel is:

Refinement (+effect = Distant Defense)
Bonfire (3 CD)
DISTANT COUNTER
Vengaful Fighter
Free C slot
DISTANT DEFENSE (seal)

He gets 12/12 Defense and Resistence when he is attacked.
Zephiel also has the adventaje his Res is not that slow compared to other armor heroes.

Whenever I get DC it’ll go to him, definitely. However, shouldn’t Ignis be chosen instead of Bonfire because he’s going to be doubled most of the time if he runs Vengeful? I also like the combination of DD refine+CD seal, but yeah, double DD actually helps a lot against mages and he already has high enough defense to deal with melees accordingly. Thank you very much!
