Zelgius Idea

If I got a Hector, would it hypothetically be decent to try building a Zelgius with Slaying Edge+ and Distant Counter? It'd make his Special only 2 charge, which is pretty insane, while also having the same mt as Alondite when refined for attack bonus. Essentially, it's sacrificing his A-Slot in order to have more options for stat adjustment combined with a lowered special cooldown.

I'm not sure what build I'd use this on, especially considering that it's tough to compete Steady Breath out in terms of usefulness, but it just seems like a potentially cool idea. Especially for bulkier builds, since Steady Breath gives more attack while this gives more defensive stats.

Alondite + Steady Breath = +16 attack, ranged counterattack, +4 defense when attacked, +1 special charge when attacked per hit.

Slayind Edge+(Def) + Distant Counter = 14 attack, ranged counterattack, +4 defense always, +5 Hp, -1 special cost.

Out of those two, I think that the Alondite/Steady Breath one still would make the special charge just about as fast. Steady Breath gives one extra charge for each hit (somehow that includes the ones you deal as well)when attacked.

Example; With Alondite/Steady Breath/QR, a 4 charge special would go 4-2-Ready-Fire when attacked, and with Slaying Edge/DC/QR that would go 3-2-1-Ready, and you wouldn't be able to fire it off in one single fight. So for just getting a special out usually you'd be better off with the first build.

I'd check out the Brave Sword+/Bold Fighter build that's been floating around, that looks pretty sweet and should set up some mean special proc's.

It's not as good as Brave Sword Bold Fighter Death Blow combo, but workable. I don't think it's the best idea though.

As far as I can tell, Brave Sword and Alondite with Bold Fighter have a very similar setup time and do about the same stuff. Brave Sword let's you hit twice (still not a black luna proc unless you use QP on him, which is used by alot of different units), or Alondite which gives you build in DC. Like, I don't see the point to using Brave Sword at all

I myself have done the calcs for Alondite with DB3 and Bold fighter, and the same for the brave sword version. It's a pretty good build either way and both work to nearly the same extent. I would stick with Alondite because it's his prf weapon and it has build in DC and just give him DB3 and Bold Fighter. With the builds you have present however, Id go for Alondite. Like I said, You have a two cooldown special if you run black luna with the slaying edge set, however, with Alondite and steady breath you get a very similar setup, the biggest difference being that you trade his Black Luna spam in order to get a higher def along with lower atk overall. I'd just keep Alondite IMO
