You heard it here first...

The new free legendary Fjorm will be both a melee and ranged unit. She deals damage vs defense at close range and damage vs resistance at a distance.

P.s. why do I have no luck in getting ANY 5*'s on this Halloween banner... like wtf.

I think he (or she) is trying to say at close range it does physical damage, but in a distant combat she deals magical damage. I think...

When she attacks a unit at close range it will apply the damage vs the targets defence and when she attacks a unit from a distance it will apply the damage vs the targets resistance.
Like a sword unit applies their damage to the targets defence and a Tome user applies their damage to the targets resistance.

As for Halloween banner, my rate reset twice by non-event units, so I stopped pulling there.
