It looked to me like a try for vantage OHKO. Interesting, but I don't agree with it because 58 isn't enough for a +10 in arena (unless multiple buffs are in play, like, practically the whole team needs to be stacking atk buffs on each other) and PvE units just have stupid and ridiculous amounts of HP

The goal here is to QR3 the first combat so that he kills and aether is fully charged.
If he is in range to trigger vantage, he will trigger Aether too. 58 is high enough I think for most OHKOs when you drop your opponent's defense by 50% first. And it should bring him up to QR3 range again for another round.
At +9 I've had him solo mapson occasion.
