Why would one build Jaffar?

I've seen him praised multiple times on this site and elsewhere, people say he can solo abyssals no probs with his refine, Close counter, vantage and savage blow 6.

But why would I use my precious dew on him if my Lucius (or any other healer if you inherit Pain+ on them) can run the exact same build, and with a dazzling refine they can choose any target they want, not just mages like Jaffar? Moreover, they can heal!

Idk if having a better special and the -7def/res debuff is worth the Divine dew...

I guess for Dazzling effect with physical damage. I have one that I refined for fun and he works fairly well against mages.

There're a few things aside from specials.
Jaffar doesn't need to warthfull + Dazzle combo to deal full damage.

Sure 40 base atk (with weapon) is quite low, but Lucius has just 42 with pain+
And as much as people say magic damage is worth more, Lucy will deal 0 damage to mages Jaffar can kill.

So Jaffar deals unhalfed damage, dazzle on mages with his B slot open. Aside from that is the debuff pain+ staffs don't have.

To put it simply, Jaffar will kill more units with Deadly dagger, moonbow, close counter, vantage, savage blow 6 than a unit like Lucius will with the same build.

As a last note, Jaffar's stats are kinda too thinly spread, but it has the boon that he'll usually survives a hit from an enemy that doesn't double. Lucy will get oneshot by archers.

BUT.
The kicker why Jaffar is in general still worse than staff units, is him being 5* only. Hard IV's and merges really hurt him.

Yeah you got a point there with healers having to chose between halved dmg and vantage.

(You can get good IVs easier though, my Lucius has 45 Atk... While Jaffar IS -spd +HP and has VERY slim chances of getting an IV upgrade)

In the end, the biggest thing holding Jaffar back is his IVs and lack of merges.
Even if you get lucky with a +atk or +spd, Lucius is just a lot easier to merge.

While I'm not one of the people who says Feh needs the mass demotion to survive, it would sure make a lot of things better. (Though a full on rework is what I prefer. Just a lot of demotions will flood the 4* pool, which might make the problem even worse)

Ehh....
I would say Lucius, but be careful of that.

I like Lucius more as an player phase unit/mage bait.
But a -spd Jaffar just runs too much risk of getting doubled and thus killed. You will want to have him with the right IV.

Go for a +atk Lucius, just keep him out of archers range.

What else would you do with him, if you happened to summon him? He doesn't have any unique skills to fodder.

In my case, I ended up building him simply because he was laying around, and I had no one else to use dew on.

Yeah about that I don't think anyone who started FEH late (like me in June of current year) will ever run into this problem x)

EDIT: I meant that as "I will probably always be short on dew"

Well, your luck with summoning is better than mine then. Lol.

I only started playing in April. And all my five stars currently have their refined weapons (or at least the ones who can refine that is).
