Why..?

Why doesn't Intelligent Systems calculate the votes for the same character on multiple games as one character's vote? Apparently Marth would've beaten Ephraim had "all" of his votes were counted together instead of separately, and I would much rather have a Brave Marth than a Brave Ephraim to be honest.

Do you guys think they'll fix this some-time in the future? I know that some characters have different promotions when being brought over to other games, but it seems a bit unfair that a character lost because people voted for version A instead of version B, and they weren't tallied the same.

Oh well... at least that Falchion upgrade could be good, right? :)

I think people should realize that if a vote doesn't turn out the way you wanted it to, accepting that is part of democracy.

'and I would much rather have a brave Marth...'

I wouldn't.

And yes, Falchion upgrade could be the best thing that's ever happened to Marth in this game.

Accepting it or not isn't really the problem for me. I've accepted that Marth lost, I'm just confused as to why units that are across multiple games don't have their votes tallied into one.

Me preferring Brave Marth is besides the point, lol.

I don’t really know why they did it since the beginning in the first place. Isn’t that just limiting a character’s chances to win for no apparent reason? (If there’s a reason, feel free to tell me)

I mean, it’s not like I’m complaining, since I still prefer Ephraim(just preference, don’t have anything against the Hero King) but it still doesn’t feel okay.

I really hope Marth gets some other special version to make up for this. And a nice Falchion upgrade as well.

They don't do that because it would be simply unfair for units that appear in only one game, and you can't expect people to have played all games. For instance, if I played Radiant Dawn, and really like Ike there, but I have not played Path of Radiance, then I might very well NOT like Ike in that game, because even if they are the same person, they don't behave exactly the same (character development and stuff like that).

Anyways, for that matter, tallying votes for characters that appear several in several games is unfair, because OF COURSE they would get double the votes simply because more people know about them. If they tallied votes, Anna would always come in 1st place because there is an Anna in literally every Fire Emblem Game, and not just that, but she is technically not even the same person. Tallying votes is difficult because you can't make a line where to stop tallying - they are different Annas, but all of them share Annas typical characteristics (the red ponytail, their greed for money, being a little big smug...) so you can both argue against or for them to be the same "type" of character.

The same goes for Marth. He appears in several games, but is he the absolute same person in all of them? Does he not have changed even the slightest bit in those games? If he did, and I'm damn sure he did, tallying votes is just not right.

"Anna would always come in 1st place because there is an Anna in literally every Fire Emblem Game"

No... Calculating all of Anna's votes from the last CYL, she come in...14th place with a total of 15,441 votes, which puts her right under Ephraim and above Cordelia.

"They don't do that because it would be simply unfair for units that appear in only one game, and you can't expect people to have played all games."

Don't understand what the latter part of that comment has to do with anything. A lot of the community has only played Awakening and Fates, and don't know that other characters even exist (exaggeration), and, like previously stated, Anna wouldn't have even won last CYL if all of her votes were tallied because not enough people even voted for her.

I can see what you mean about the Ike part, though. Never really thought of it that way. Guess there are pros and cons to tallying up the votes for the character if they appear in multiple games.

I get some of the points you're saying and I agree that some people may truly want to vote for one specific version of a repeated character and tallying their votes wouldnt be fair, you still have to think about the people who also want to vote for Marth as a whole and truly doesn't care which game he came from as his "Brave" form.

After all, you're not exactly getting much story or character from the FEH version of this character anyways so what does it really matter if his personality changes a little bit from the three games unless its a drastic change. All you really get is a quick summary of them like so and so is a prince or this one is loyal to the MC of the game.

It's also hard to almost impossible to coordinate with everyone, or at least a fair majority, who wants to vote Marth as a winner regardless of his game, to vote on one game to nominate him in. That can make it harder for him to win since he has many games instead of having one version to vote for.

I personally didnt vote for Marth and dont prefer either and just made this argument for arguments sake and to make the CYL voting experience more fair. Hell I voted for Genny all 7 days and thats probably the only 7 votes she has lol.

Idk how IS would fix both issues but completely ruling out either seems unfair. Maybe if you vote for a recurring character maybe you could choose to vote multiple times, for each game version that character is in and tally all of the different verisons of the character as different people.
