Who would you suggest to vote for in the VG? Currently i am deciding between fallen robin and fallen takumi

If you have fall rob go with him or if you only have fall takumi like me join the screaming pineapple team! We have pineapple like hairstyle and scream " Betrayal .........I AM BETRAAAAAAAAAAYAAAAAAAAAAAAL!"

One question:
What does having a unit you vote for has to do with voting for it? Does that unit get a bonus in stats? More points obtained? Are there benefits?
