Which Sigurd?

I have two -Def +Res and a -Atk +Def one, I think I'm leaning more towards the latter; I actually wanted him to be neutral since I find all of his stats are important. I could compensate the attack bane easily with bonfire if necessary, right?

I think the -Def/+Res one is better, especially with Horse Buffs.
If you have a spare Hector i would give him DC, otherwise I would give him Fury

Mine is +Def -Atk too, and the more I think about it the less I am disappointed.

His defenses are HUGE.

With his native close defense + distant def badge, he reaches a solid 43 / 26 (except maybe against dragons ?).
With his other skills he'll be immune to Rein + Brave bow users.

In a horse team that's probably 49 / 32 defensive spread. It's very nice.

I think I'll use him instead of Xander in this season's arena.
And it'll be nice to run a horse team during the upcoming Tempest Trial :)

Yeah, I wanted him to be hard to kill anyway, and he still has a decent attack stat. Yes, obviously, the point of Close Defense increasing both Def and Res is because it takes effect against dragons in melee.

I'm probably the only person who seems to think attack is his best bane.

Sigurd's meant to be a bait tank. You should make him as sturdy as possible. With +Def and Fortify Cavalry, he'll have 43 defense. Combine it with Close Defense and the DD seal and he'll basically be immune to physical damage from non-blues. Bait units and let them charge his Bonfire, then insta-gib them on the next turn. That missing 3 damage won't even be noticed.

Exactly, his set is designed to make him hard to kill, and attack is the only exclusively offensive stat, all other stats help him survive. I still would have preferred him to be neutral, but I'm not mad about the -Atk given the RNG.
