When your Falchion healer doesn't have Aether...

...what's the best (budget) choice of special? I've built up my (unmerged) Masked Marth as a Falchion medic that I use during Tempest Trials, with Darting Blow, Renewal, and the HP seal. But all the Falchion healer builds I've seen recommend Aether as the special, which is perfectly reasonable given that all other Falchion users come with Aether to start with. (Except maybe Alm? Not sure.) But Marthcina is kind of stuck in that regard, and I really don't think 5*ing my spare Chrom just to give her Aether is a reasonable use of 20k feathers for me at this time. So what special does she actually want? Luna? Moonbow? Something else?

Hello there,
I've got a Falchion healer being Chrom. He's +att/ -res, so he's got a good 60 attack that I run with draconic aura. I for one don't think that Aether is very good for Falchion healers because it has such a long cooldown which would require more engagement in battles. Whilst being a combat medic, the unit shouldn't be in combat very often due to giving their health away, I would recommend a special trigger that has a relatively low cooldown. As for Masked Marth, I suppose that you could give her either Luna or Moonbow since that's the go-to special for many units. She'll have a good 39 speed with Fury 3 (42 with Darting Blow 3 on initiation) and will usually double melee units and proc moonbow. Though, Luna is nice for that extra slice-through!

Draconic Aura with 60 attack sounds wonderfully insane. :D For my MM I'm really trying to decide between Luna and Moonbow, I think. Moonbow does have a wonderfully low cooldown, but since my MM sees the most use during TTs when everyone has ridiculous stats, I'd worry that it's not enough to get a kill, so I admit I'm a bit biased toward Luna in this case.

Luna and Moonbow are both good and serve their purpose (and probably will be your best options), but I wanted to fullfill the walking ambulance meme to the fullest even without Aether, so I chose Sol. I'm really glad that they'll be lowering its cooldown with the next patch. MM deals enough damage for this special to be relevant and even tho it's not competitive at all, I still wanted to do it just for the fun of it.

Yeah, it's a bit overkill with that much healing, since she usually heals just too much, but seeing as MM came as a completely blank slate, I just went with crazy things that I wouldn't put on a different falchion wielder.

What, no Breath of Life seal? ;) That is a fabulously hilarious build, right there. I'd be tempted, but given that I'm using her in TT I really do need the extra damage. ;)

Report

Yeah, it's incomplete without it, sadly. Breath of life seal is currently not upgraded, because the priority list is overwhelmed. It would definitely be added eventually.

As for your build, just stick with Luna as it will give you more significant dmg against those tankier heroes that you'll encounter in TT.

Report

Understandable about seal priority list. Mine is so overwhelmed that I'm actually sitting on 250+ sacred coins right now because I can't decide which seals to use them on, it's kind of sad. ;)

Yeah, Luna's pretty much my instinct here. Thank you for validating it! ;)

I went Astra because when she has to kill something, I want it completely obliterated... Then back to healing.

I use Luna for mine. Standard Falchion Healer set with Death Blow(Pulled a lot of Kleins) and Hone Speed(Cause why not?)

Actually Aether is not dependable, unless you are running your pseudo healer during the likes of a Tempest Trial for instance.

For shorter battlers (story, squad assaut, training tower, arena ...), Aether should never proc really. Your healer won't be in battle so much.

If you really want the complementary healing you can feed Marthcina with some of the other healing skills (Sol / Noontime) since they'll soon have reduced cooldown, making them probably more usable.

If you don't want or need it (only experience will tell with your team ... Do you use many fury units ? Other self-healing heroes ? bulky ones ? squishy ones ?), you can go for a damage increasing special.

Love the Luna line (Moonbow / Luna) but with the reduced cooldown of Glimmer it could be another option !
