When you merge a unit do they pass on inherited skills?
Just curious.

Thus is the nature of the beast. My first Ayra was +ATK-DEF, a solid spread but not ideal for her duelist nature. I built her during her TT, and then out of nowhere I got a second Ayra the very next day at +SPD-RES. Merged them together, and never looked back. She’s now a +3 destroyer.

If your first version of the unit is a 3* who doesn't have good IVs and you plan to eventually merge it: 1) Play them to get SP to learn the A/B/C slot skills but not the Weapon/Assist/Special. 2) Stop playing them when you either hit Level 20 or learn all native the A-C slot skills 3) When you finally get a 4* version of the unit with better IVs you can unlock the 3* and merge. You'll get a 4*+1 version with the native slot skills. Just remember to equip the skills.
If you use the 3*'s SP to upgrade a Weapon/Assist/Special, the SP is wasted when you merge it into the 4* because the 4* already has the upgraded Weapon/Assist/Special.
Hope that made sense.
