When would you expect the 3.0 trailer?

Even knowing what's in the legendary manner I can't make a decision whether I want to summon on it or on Fire and Ice and how heavily I want to invest in them. (+10 Surtr is definitely possible in ~700 orbs, right?)

The thing most people would advise is waiting for 3.0 since who knows what's coming - a mass demotion, an arena overhaul, a skill shop, a skill refinery, beast units, etc? It could definitely affect how good are the decisions that seem great now!

However, it seems that while we can wait until the 10th of december to decide whether to go for the Cheapest 180 bst +10 project, we will still be in the dark concerning 3.0 when the Legendary banner will come to a close.

Is that correct?

Some have been able to +10 the flat firelord in under 200 orbs, if you've got 700 I think you should be fine with plenty spare. Barring an attack of awful luck of course.

I usually have to spend a hundred to get a single copy of a hero I want and I almost always snipe for colors...

The average is ~825 orbs

Those dudes had INSANE luck, I woulldn't count on it.

The average cost seems to be bout 800-850 orbs, but as usual the variance is huge in this game (Ireally hate this, i wish we could start at a lower rate and build it up significantly quicker for more consistent results)

I've tried to +10 surtr on this site's simulator a little more than a dozen times, lowest i did was 650, most 1500. Most of the results were around the 750 and 1150 mark

We might get some info before the LHB ends, but I wouldn't count on it. Who from that banner interests you? If it's only Hrid, then you can wait for his rerun. He will come back with the same pull rate in a few months.

Surtr's banner is however a quite exceptional event. We never had a 2 character banner before, and we might never have one again. The 1.5% focus gives us the highest chance at +10 a unit. Add to that Surtr's amazing skills and stats, and the offer is too good to pass up. At least it was for me. Used the 200 orbs I had saved up since last month legendary banner and I got 7 Surtr and a +spd Ylgr. If my luck keeps up, I might be able to +10 him before the banner ends without having to spend money. With 700 orbs, you should have a better chance than me.

Having said that, 3.0 is near, and depending on what it brings, waiting might be best for you. Beasts could be introduced, but I don't expect mass demotions (too soon, we don't have enough 4-5* yet) or an arena overhaul to happen (why would they do that now that AR exist). A skill refinery/shop seems to be the most likely feature, as it would link to the weapon forge we got last year quite nicely and also make sense of the new tier 4 skills, but they could always do something else entirely.

You should be able to know what's ahead before Surtr's banner ends.

I only own 5 heroes out of the 12 featured :
a + def -hp L.Ryoma
a -atk +spd F.Kana (fodder material, but she serves as a decent green check and buffer for A.Tiki and Nowi for inantry quests) (Got a DC Myrrh, haven't invested in a Fae)
a +HP -Res Gunnthra
3 different F.Robins - haven't decided which IVs I wanna merge on (+atk -hp/res or +spd-res)

Hrid as a powerful DC cavalry sounds cool and I won't say no to Laevateinn even though i have and Owain, haven't got much use for more Ryomas - guidance fodder or merge if better ivs i guess.
S.Innes would be nice to get but isn't enough reason to pull green.
I kinda want to go for +10 on Grima eventually but i'm lukewarm about the 2 bow ladies. True, I don't have any 5 star bows but B.Lyn and L.Lyn, but still... I'd go for it when they double down on colorless legendaries or get a B.Veronica or Loki on the legfest.
Blue is very appealing to me. I'm not sure whether I'm gonna get much use of S.Cordelia but i gotta admit i got no 5star lance cavs. I want B.Hetor, he's broken and a straight upgrade from my -atk+def Hardin.

And I want L.Lucina. I got initially very lucky on her debut banner, getting like 4 focus units in 60~70 orbs, then decided that an average of 60 orbs for another Ishtar / my first Azura / L.Lucina is a price I'm willing to pay.
I spent 200 orbs, with no notable common units mixed in, deluding myself that the next one is Bowcina, so much that getting that Ishtar felt like a slap in the face.
At this point I've got a personal grudge against Bowcina. I WILL make her serve me!

Then again as a F2P player that started in june the vision of getting a +10 180 bst unit is very enticing. I havent' got a single highly merge unit yet... the highest is +1 Caeda, got one on her daily focus in summer and then found perfect IVs for her so i merged them :)

Since the ones you are interested the least seem to be the legendary and seasonal units, I would recommend you to wait.

It's highly likely that Laevateinn and BHector will show up in normal banners with higher chances sooner than later; while L!Lucina and Hrid will come back in future legendaries, maybe with better line-ups (Hrid + HMyrrh for example would be amazing). Surtr showing up at 1.5% might never happen again.

L.Lucina might not appear better accompagnied than by a Brave Hector though

That is true. Out of all the pending blue units, only Ophelia is note worthy. That's unless they pair her with L!Tiki when enough blue legendaries show up.

Let's wait for 3.0 before deciding on going for Surtr

I think I remember somewhere that they confirmed the 3.0 update is coming in December (though most people probably guessed as such anyway). I'd guess around the first half of December. Assuming we're getting Christmas seasonals again, I can't see them giving us a trailer around that time as that would clog the feed. Early seems to make the most sense.
