When A Unit Turns Out Better Than You Thought

I'd been disappointed that my Nina was -Spd +Def but now I've got her to lv40 I'm pleasantly surprised. With her Spd/Res Link active she still hits 45 speed with 40 resistance, she's going to be my go to anti-magic archer in AA now.

Anyone else had a unit they didn't have much hope for that surprised them?

I'm sure I have, but I can't actually recall. Because of SI it makes just about every unit viable, and I do enough theory crafting that I'm generally certain of the end result before hand.

I guess Myrrh surprised me at first. She certainly proved to be a fantastic unit, even by today's standards. I knew she'd be good, but that girl was winning whole arena battles for me solo.

I can't think of examples, but I'm glad you posted this because a lot of people will probably benefit from seeing that IVs as unfavourable as what you got there can still become effective. I'll be linking here in the future.

Isn't that frustrating to you, especially on repeated offense? Always somebody unable to do the math for themselves, despite all the available tools. 'Here is my -Atk +Spd B!Hector, who should get Ostian Counter, A!Tiki or NY!Azura?'

'Aren't you the guy who asked about the same IVs on your w!Tharja just yesterday? ...He's still plenty viable, especially on the right team. Why would you...? Ostian Counter isn't even inheritable.'

'Oh, is an Armor Only skill? Strange. Sheena it is, then.'

'It's not inheritable! By anyone! And I told you he's still good! Can you even read?!'

Its always refreshing to hear when people don't get hung up on non-optimal IVs. Its fun to chase the perfect roll, but its not the end all be all. The first Brave Ike I pulled over a year was -Spd +Res when I was chasing a -Res +Atk (like Gamepress told me to) and hes been a staple in my barracks since. His added magical bulk paired with the damage mitigation, on top of his slow speed/accelerated aether for sustainment makes for a potent combo

A fine Nina you have there!

I had a +Hp / -Atk Micaiah a while back (when she was first introduced) that I became frustrated over, but at the time, I eventually stuck with her for a long time, with her being my only blue mage. Throughout her entire run, she deemed very worthy of usage, and I could never have been more proud of her.

Well, a lot of what I use isn't favourable in terms of IVs.

One such example goes to Zelgius, he's -Atk. But guess who I used to clear Takumi GHB while everything failed?

My L!Ephraim's -Atk too. But he's in my core team because hecc, I'm not ditching my fav heroes because they have bad IVs.

I also have a -Atk Ayra lying around which I use for CC and TTs and hecc, she nets lots of kills even with -Atk.
