When should you stop trying to raise your speed?

All fast and offensive heroes eventually get to the point where raising speed further is pointless, unless you're Ayra. So, I have to ask, what amount of speed would you consider the max, where no more speed should be needed?

My personal limit is somewhere around 50, enough to double most units in the game and enough to not get doubled by other speedy units.

55 spd (including buffs) is where you are safe from getting doubled by a +10 +spd speed wave Karla and at the same time, you should be doubling pretty much everything else. At that point, I'd say that it's time to stop.

I was curious so I just did the math for a +10 +spd -res Karla with darting blow 3 and a +6 buff to speed.

If the enemy has no buffs, no merges, no spurs, no skill inherit, and neutral IVs, then this Karla still can't kill Lukas, Subaki, Nephenee, Shiro, and love abounds Hector. I'm amazed. Unsurprisingly she can't take anybody with Swordbreaker either, and the only wary fighter unit she can kill is winter Chrom.

45 is probably the amount that's safest. You out-speed the majority of the game and if you really want that extra speed to ensure even further slap on Even Speed Wave.

You could just go for bulky units that don't care about speed and put that investment elsewhere. I stopped caring about speed a while ago but back when I did care I'd aim for 45.

For non-arena maps, ~45 should double just about everything. For arena, there's so much speed creep that I don't see the point if you're not whaling for every new banner. Just assume you may be facing a fast sword, so use a bulky blue that doesn't care like Effie, Nowi, etc.
