Wheat & Chaff (1/4) [Clive]

I have a few units that are pretty useless, but kept them around, until today.

My Clive's Silver Lance just isn't good enough on it's own, so he needs a new weapon

Should Clive inherit Sully's Sapphire Lance
or Mathilda's Ridersbane, or Oboro's Heavy Spear

It's up to you what kind of build you want for him. If you want a Red unit destroyer, then use sapphire lance. If you encounter a lot of Horse emblem units, use Ridersbane. I personally wouldn't recommend Heavy spear at all. You can use Moonbow to get through tough armored units or use mages. Like I said though, its up to you how you want him.

Clive's stats are so mediocre that Sapphire lance is probably the best choice.

Personally, I waited until I could give Clive a Killer Lance +. If you give him Ignis and quikened pulse, he becomes a 2 turn nuke. This build works for me because of Clive's naturally bulky Def. Also something like Fortress Def/Armored Blow is necessary for this build. Ridersbane is a good counter to the current arena teams. Sapphire Lance is mediocre imo.

If you have a spare Ridersbane+ have him borrow it from his wife. With horse emblem buffs active he does horrible and terrible things to most horses and cuts right through Tricolor Cecilia (since Ridersbane seems to ignore the triangle and apply more to the type).

Honestly Clive is so underwhelming in many aspects that Sapphire Lance at least gives him something he can fight against reliably.

If you're considering building him seriously, you could also give him Lancebreaker to make him into a melee sword/lance killer. His only other feature of note is high HP so that's something.

I gave Clive Fury 2 and Fortify Cavalry from a spare Jagen and Lancebreaker 2 and Swap from Arthur. He's a decent cavalary buffer now to use in arena assault when you run out of much better units.
