What's up with Young Tiki

Really, is there anything about her that I don't see? She's a 5 star only but.co.oared to all other dragons, Nowi, adult Tiki, Myrhh and Fae she seems to have nothing on her. I accidentally pulled one form my hard earned 70 F2P orbs as a pitybreaker and really don't know what to do with her. I've got all other dragons mentioned above. Suggestions?

their stats lines are different
She has lower base HP than Nowi and fae, so IP is great to be ran, 31 base atk, slightly lower than the other drags, but her speed is pretty good at 30 base, 32 def, 29 res and a high bst makes her2nd to fae for the res tank in drag emblem
just wait until the update and either build her lightning breath+ standard or whatever her new weapon is

She is pretty quick for a dragon so she can hold the fast red dragon niche as a counterpart to female Corrin and female Kana. With speed boon, speed refine and Fury 4 she hits 39 speed, add Hone Dragons and a speed blessing (L!Grima if you get her) she hits 48 speed. Typical enemy phase dragons have issues against the likes of Bold Fighter and dazzling staffs so having one fast enough to work on player phase is handy, even if she's only for AA. Have to wait for her new weapon so see if Lightningbreath+ is still optimal.

She's +res -hp, not terrible I think. Point is Nowi is +SPD, meaning she's 33 bare with fury. I don't see the point in building her up even though I got a Legendary Ike aching to donate his Ward breath to someone. Utterly I don't understand why she's a 5 star unit since she's got nothing on her. No special skills, strong stats, nothing. I hate to waste any 5 star units. Got traumatized after pulling a 5 Normal Jakob (oh, the pain)

Report

True, she has nothing to fodder and needs a full overhaul to work but her stats make her pretty quick, strong and bulky so she's a good all-round defensive unit with a distant counter weapon (costing another 5* as fodder but ignoring that). Others will always beat her for individual stats, that's true of near every unit, but she's still a very good mixed phase, mixed bulk unit.

Also, I know the pain of Jakob, during the Halloween banner too so I thought it was the good archer for a brief moment but no.

Report

No man, I meant a NORMAL JAKOB, not Halloween (which is, by the way, an insanely strong unit). 5 star Normal Jakob Pull. I already had a Fae to fodder renewal so he literally had nothing on him.

I've got a Y!Tiki since launch, and she was my First 5 star. To tell you how good she was, I never knew why Hector was so good, because my Tiki could easily kill him. Now I run her adult self, but only because I still haven't found another one.
But she really shines in Arena assault against Green armor units, and even some tharja because of her good res. Great unit, really

Report

Y!Tiki is one of the fastest dragons(I think second only to Ninian) and like Fae and Nowi, she enjoys boosted BST. Compared to Adult Tiki, she traded off some def and HP for Res and Speed, and got a few extra points as a bonus.

If you are planning to run a full dragon team, Young Tiki is a better counter for Naga than her adult self because of her higher resistance and speed. If you're using the ideal IV for Adult Tiki (-speed) she's going to be doubled by almost all Julia and Deirdre (except perhaps the -speed ones), compromising her defense against them. Young Tiki will double and possible ORKO them, which Adult Tiki struggle to do withour QR or attack boosts due to the Naga wielders' high Res.

And also, ideally there is at least one speedy dragon in your team for the unfortunate event that you encounter enemies who go aggro on their phase (eg. Young Tiki, Mama Corrin or FGrima) so that you can net kills on them by doubling in player phase. Young Tiki needs a complete overhaul of her skills to shine, but once you get there you won't look back. Wait for the Breath of Fog (her new refine) before deciding to give her another Breath, though, to save skills and SP.

*On a side note: I am F2P as well and have never got a good Nowi and I don't like her and think she is kind of overrated (no offense for Nowi fans ^^') and use FCorrin as my player phase dragon. Having a Young Tiki for an F2P is a luxury; if her IVs are acceptable (+res/-HP is very good for countering Naga tomes) by all means work on her.

I prefer Nowi to F.Corrin but I agree that F.Corrin is easier to build for a good player phase.

As for Y.Tiki, I agree with what everybody else says; base kit (until the new breath?) is nothing significant, but her stat line is very attractive with good spd, better res, lower attack (which is my preference, because leaves them with more HP to heal off of when you fire the aether. Two hits and they're usually done anyways). Her BST is also better for arena scoring, if you're concerned about that, but I think the difficulty in merging her nullifies that.

As a matter of my own taste, I don't like A.Tiki even though I think objectively she's perfectly fine. She has almost zero player phase and gets doubled by everything, plus she has poor res unless you go +res nature and warding breath, which I actually find easier to deal with than the 40-50 def variant unless I happen to have a red or blue mage on my team. By contrast, Y.Tiki with team support definitely has player phase potential, which is somewhat rare for dragons. Same reason why I prefer spd-oriented rather than def-oriented Nowi; def-oriented probably has better chances vs the bold fighter armours in high tiers of Arena, but she's worse off everywhere else like a defective strain of bacteria that manages to survive penicillin because one of its proteins is dysfunctional.

I get your point. I think my frustration comes from that my Dragon Emblem team is Nowi with 33 SPD and whatever, A!Tiki with her marvelous 41 def neutral, -def Myrhh to home and make them remember that life's not a walk in the park and some Jackass Flying guy to Boost Myrhh defense to a level it matters.
Main strategy is to Hyperbuff Nowi for 39 speed and whatever and play the other dragons around. Y!Tiki would be replacing Nowi on almost the exactly role and stats. Because she's the only unit who could deliver some doubles and be hardly doubled by anyone. But then I would need to change half my team since it doesn't make any sense bother tikis in same team (and that is absolutely weird too).
It's not helpful playing a full dragon team because of high res units. They simply can't get through.
Maybe I'll change my whole team because of her. Could build some Kana for A!Tiki's place and Y!Tiki instead of Nowi. Shit
I don't want to bring Fae on because I love Light breath but it's not meant for Dragon team, and also because of dragon buffs heads will roll.

Having more options for dragons does come with its own challenges :P

To try to stay on topic, I do think that Y.Tiki has a very similar statline to Nowi's...maybe slightly preferable, even, but much harder to pick IVs. Probably best to find some way to boost her beyond just hone dragons...would you summoner support her? Ally support? Drive spd, even? The thing about Nowi and Y.Tiki on the same team even if their roles seem to overlap is that both will do well on enemy phase, unless you're using A.Tiki to wall even the blues and Nowi focuses on player phase? But then wouldn't it be better to choose a blue unit with a stronger player phase?

I've considered dragon emblem and my conclusion is that it just gets really passive and repetitive, just sit there all day and wait for the AI to be stupid (which, for better or for worse, it will do, and rather reliably); Falchions and Naga are really annoying and it's hard to go after them with a first strike. They're really good tanks except for those specific weapons and Myrrh's Great Flame makes her an absolute PITA unless I have Zelgius on hand (because he has the def to shut it down), but in my own play style, tanks are for hiding the glass cannons or when the map has some blatantly imbalanced setup like the F.Robin GHB map (not that it's anywhere near unbeatable) where it's virtually impossible to do anything but bunker down hard and aether through.
