What's so great about Innes?

I got one -def +atk, my consolation for failing to obtain Y.Tiki (especially with this new weapon coming) or either of the two other reds. I'm kind of excited about this pull but I'm already merging Felicia and if I wanted more firepower at the expense of adaptive damage I'd promote Kaze. Easy to pull off a 1-turn iceberg if he survives a counterattack, which isn't terribly difficult.

About Innes, then. 50 attack with prf, nothing to sneeze at, especially for an archer, but I have a B.Lyn with 50 atk before buffs or swift sparrow, and she starts at 38 spd (+4 for SS), which means she would almost double my Innes without swift sparrow (if she didn't one-shot him). Also, she's on a horse. I'm also cooking up a 4*+10 Virion, who trades res for def and has similar speed and attack but about 13 more HP. If I give Innes brave bow, the IV seems ideal but who am I killing except some def-dumping mage, healer, or glass cannon, for which Felicia and Virion are sufficient? Everyone else seems to walk around with 35+ def. It's not like I'm going to quad with 29 spd; the only way I can see is to play him with drive spd drive atk B.Lucina or the Marth I'm building to support Felicia, in which case I'm looking at 49/35 so I could take darting blow or swift sparrow and aim to cause some serious harm, except any DC melee or lightning breath will OHKO back before I can quad. Virion is only 1-2 points behind him offensively, except his weakness is mages, who will all fall on the initial double-tap unless they have raven+TA.

Thanks for bearing with the length. My question is, again, what am I killing that isn't a squishy mage (for which the extra attack doesn't seem necessary), or what build, especially what B-skill, can I go for if I'm not content with playing passive and baiting mages? How does he distinguish himself from Felicia, Kaze, and my 4*+10 Virion? Or should I switch gears with Virion?

I think you kind of answered your own question. Innes is pretty much a glass canon unit and a good mage bait unit. He rates up there as a good bow unit if you manage to get him with +SPD which put him just behind B.Cordellia, so with a brave bow his can possibly quad attack. But ever since CYL B.Lyn, she pretty much became one of the best and most accessible bow units in the game. With Kaze, he is completely neutral, so you don't get access to IVs.

I think Felicia offers better versatility due to her refinable unique weapon. My personal thought is Innes isn't particularly an outstanding unit nor a bad unit. Nowadays he has been overshadowed by other better bow units.
