What you focus on mostly for a build?

I read a question post moments ago of how someone liked one rounding in the triangle which made me think to ask you guys what do you all prioritize when building units? I tend to go along the lines of have as much attack as possible (though in rare cases I do not do this but usually I do) so what do you focus on when building a hero or many heroes? Focus more and being able to one shot them quickly or be able to attack no matter the range for every unit?

When building a unit, I tend to try to focus as much as possible in his/her main strengths. Lukas is a unit with high Def, so I built him around it, stacking it to a monstrous 50 Def coupled with Ignis, increasing the damage he deals by 40 when his special triggers.

Depends. I mostly like going for defensive builds that can counter a multitude of units. I don't mind building a blue unit to counter greens, or a red unit to counter blues, but I don't really "try" to build for that. It just sort of happens.

There are other times (like when looking at Lon'qu) that I'd build for offense. Don't mind offensive builds, but they aren't necessarily my favorite when it comes to utilization on the battlefield.

It's really funny that you mention that, because I was the one to bring it up. I was feeling a little overwhelmed, because as Kraztyre said, you can't really have it every way...even when I do try to go counter-triangle, it usually involves some sort of specific setup or hard special like 4-turn cooldowns, and you can't call that "reliable" unless you're running certain things like Breath skills.

That question was also having my Libra in mind. I have a variety of different weapons and specials, but I'm trying out Brave > Mirror Strike. I wanted to take advantage of his +Res, so that's why I chose that.

The idea is to be effecient about it, if you want to be succesful. Having to rely on the things that I do isn't always reliable, so it's best to go with the more consistent option (this is where calculators might come to play). Ran into a similiar situation with Charlotte, and a guy just simulated that Wrath > Moonbow was her best choice in general.

so I don't know if I really answered the question or not...characters with high Atk shouldn't have to run with as much trouble between choosing specials. Their Atk should be high enough to 2HKO triangle-advantage threats as it is, and they should pack enough punch to be able to put down guys with a strong special.

Everyone has their play styles. Some think and put more thought into builds and strategies than others (like me. I am that person that plays the easiest mode possible in fe games. I might be one of the only people the liked that easy mode in fates. ) Though I didn't know how to actually help with what you were asking so thats why I didn't answer.

I focus only towards offense being able to one round any enemy, but I occasionally build a unit defensively,I don't care about the range since dc don't exactly grow on trees(still only have one unit with dc and I stop using it in favor of a more offensive a skill ) and I don't use cc.

I still remember my ayra one round a +10 Gwendolyn that had 58hp and 53 def with SB good times lol.

I just realise that Effie also had 58 HP. lol...she must've been +6-7 (like my Henry)

It's cool that you understand. If you show that to other people, they would start putting lame excuses to discredit your build.

For me, and I'm a weird case. I go for uniqueness most of the time (it can be seen in P!Olivia for those that have seen me post her before, same for few other units I possess). Other than uniqueness, what's fun, and then what works best. If a build has the possibilities for all 3, then it's perfect. If it hits at least 2, then it works well.

Usually, I build units who have the capabilities to be either offensive or defensive. If I had a S!A!Tiki I would build her and invest into Spd, same applies to S!Corrin. If I have a +Res H!Henry, I would invest into his Res making him untouchable by green/blue foes. It really depends on their main strengths and how their role benefits the team.
