What if
You could change a units weapon type?
For example, turning Alfonse into a blue mage?
My general id of how it could work out would be that changing weapons in general wouldnt alter stats, unless the unit was changing weapon range types, for example, Alfonse becoming a blue mage and losing 2 in each stat to drop to 147, or Henry changing from a red mage to an axe and gaining 2 in each stat as well as 10bst. With changing movement type gianing or losing 3 BST, which would be added or subtracted to hp, defense, and res.
How much would the game change?
Which units would instantly become better by changing their weapon type?
Would your favorite unit benefit from changing weapon types, even if it was just axe to lance, or dagger to mage?

Only similar thing that I can think of that I'd like is if color of a unit was tied to the dagger/bow. So if you inherited Guard Bow+, they become colorless. Devilish Bow+ linked to blue and H! Kagero's bottle linked to green. The Hoshidan Summer daggers linked to their respective colors of Blue, Green, and Colorless.
That way you could give Flora Smoke Dagger+ and have her become colorless, give Bridal Cordelia Devilish Bow+ and have her become blue, and give L! Lucina a Firesweep Bow+ and have her become colorless. Or things like green dagger Kaze with Cloud Maiougi+. But other than this, I can't see it working out.

I've had several brain fart moments when playing with builds and considering changing out a weapon but getting hung up because I *thought* it would change that units weapon color.
Just lastnight I had a dummy moment when playing with H!Kagero and accidently thought changing her Bottled Wine for Barb Shuriken would turn her from green to colorless and was stressing over it until I realized, uh duh it won't. So I for one would really 'hate' this to be a thing personally.
On the other hand I also had moments when I really wished I could change a red unit to a blue so... if it were an option when changing weapons that'd be cool.

Considering you can totally do this in the actual FE games, I think it would be a good idea. Of course, it would probably mess with stats or require them to change stats when you change type. Like, if you could change a high defense armor unit to an infantry or even cavalry type without changing their stats, that would sort of be cheating the system. In theory, armor units make up for their low movement with high defense, so you'd have to lose defense if you changed movement type (since there is no up side to only being able to move one space, except that if you have armor march/boots, you can move two regardless of terrain). (I say in theory because I have some armor units with surprisingly low defense and my unit with highest defense is an infantry type.)
