I don't know how Ephraim could double Nowi. She had 32 speed, he had 30 and his base kit with Heavy Blade seal, i.e. no QR. As there are no other units within 2 spaces, surely his Flame Siegmund shouldn't be active, right? Or have I misunderstood Flame Siegmund this whole time?

Flame Siegmund activates when the number of enemies in two spaces (excluding target) is equal to or more than the number of allies (excluding Ephraim) in two spaces.
In this case, it's 0vs0 because Nowi and Ephraim are excluded, so it meets Siegmund's requirements. The fact that it procs even when the numbers are equal probably threw you off there.
Grants Atk+3. If the number of foes within 2 spaces (excluding target) ≥ the number of allies within 2 spaces (excluding unit), unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack.
Basically Flame siegmund effect works when he is alone(even when the enemy is alone) or has less allies near him.
The effect is really worded badly so it's hard to understand.
