What H Jakob build would you be more threatning on AR Defence?

I have a +5 H Jakob (+res, -spd) on my defence team running brave bow+, deathblow 3, bold fighter, defence ploy, with a deflect magic 3 seal for his S slot. He sits beside a +10 effie (she's a berkut's lance build with vengeful fighter, armour march, DC and distant defence 3, +atk, -spd). They've been effective together, but recently getting stomped as I climb up the ranks. I only squeeze out a win every now and then for my defence.

I'm wondering if I should invest in giving him some spare fodder copies of units for vengeful fighter/guard bow/close counter, because the higher ranks of AR are just tome cavalry/flier units knocking me down. I know he can't survive an optimized Cecelia still however, but gets chipped by danced veronica's and reins.

(Rest of team includes +spd -def Veronica running double savage blow, NY Azura with WoM 3 and tactics, and H Kagero with double brazens, atk/def + atk/res and bold fighter)

Deflect Magic is not a good seal since a unit that can counterattack doesn't make use of it.

The Question is rather to say can you build a trap good enough that H Jakob get always the first strike? If not then i would suppose to use vengeful fighter/guard bow/close counter,.
I will highly agree with you i have 0 problem now with offense H Jakob but a defense H Jakob and a good defend iteam gave me belive last week trouble that i had even lost one Hero last turn but won was close one.

Passive setups are very hard to make to work because the opponent gets too much room to do whatever they want, set up ideal positions for every unit, and take your team at least as much on their terms as on yours even though it's your turf. The setups that have impressed me most really put the squeeze on, restrict the offense's position and options, and make it hard for them to move as they want.

Even if you take a less aggressive line, you do need something to point to their face to say "you can't just walk in here and take potshots at us; we WILL take casualties."

And yes, most teams are some combination of:
- dancers (often two)
- ranged horses, most commonly Veronica, B.Lyn, and Reinhardt
- this week and potentially in the future also, L.Eirika
- Aversa
- sometimes a tank such as some Fae or Myrrh.

So if you can't deal with a team that looks like two dancers, Aversa, L.Eirika with galeforce (lunar brace changed out, of course), and Veronica, I'd say your setup could use work.Saying this as someone who has 6600 lift right now and 82 aether. (And my own setup is borderline. I find AR defense extremely difficult.)
