What do you think of the new permanent Bonus-rotation?

Hey there!

As we can see, IS made its threaten come true and kicked our beloved friends from the bonus rotaion. It all ended with Hana...

However, they also announced the currently rotating GHB heroes to be in the permanent rotation. If I got this correctly...

So now our new arena base is:
Lloyd
Michalis
Xander
Narcian
Navarre
Female Robin
Ursula

These are sadly seven units, so our Askrians and Fjorm "wander" through this rotation without a constant partner, unlike the old rotation.

I actually never played any of these.
I don't like Narcian (arrogant) personally. I will not play him, if there is any way to prevent this.

I also don't want to play Navarre and Lloyd, I already used Navarre for fodder or sent him home. Llyod is ugly and as left behing as Roy. Both are totally outclassed by my omnispresent Olivia. I don't really like them after all.

I'm not really interested into Ursula either. She is worse than Reinhardt and Olwen and I benched both actually.

Michalis is a decent physical tank. I usually use only infantry but I guess I build him up. Although I'd never have done this without this change.

Xander faces hard concurrence with my Eldigan and my Sigurd. I lost my interest in him because of that, but I guess now, 5*+3 he might do ok if the team is good. I will build him. Not so disappointed for that.

Female Robin is a unit I thought about building for a long time. Just did not want to invest the feathers. I like Robin anyway, so this does not hurt too much. I can't decide between Raven Adept (would be my first green one) or Keen Gronnwolf, but I'll figure that out.

I'm a bit upset I need to rethink my feather investment now, that's really annoying. I think about 4* merge for Robin. 4* merging the old guys was so beautifully cheap...

What will you do now for arena?
Have you already built some of these? I saw some really beloved Michalis here for example.
Or will you wait for a potential upgrade of the Askrians?

I've got a built Michalis, and I'm working on Xander. Ursula is one of those few mages who doesn't demand a Blade Tome. Her Keen Wolf(after upgrading of course) can cut through almost any horse except for some very high res greens(Which I think is just Gunthra and LA!Lilina) or a green with TA

Lloyd....I want to like him, if for no other reason than he shares the name of the main character of Tales of Symphonia.

Narcian is garbage to me. Navarre as well.

For Robin, keep her Wolf Tome. If she's got TA and Bowbreaker, with her wolf tome, Brave Lyn will be unable to kill her and will get smoked in return, and Reinhardt can't kill her without CA(I think I've only ever seen that on Reinhardt once, and I was just like WTF?! Still, it didn't help him at all against my Fae, who eat's Reinhardts for a midnight snack. Rrrrraaaaaaawwwwrr!)

Not a problem. Just be careful of Brave Bow lyn. If she's +atk and a high merge level, she can give Robin some trouble, but you should be able to work around that with a defense buffs, or Deflect Missiles.

Report

Yeah, I do that too, but I am so close before remain in Tier 20, and I can't rely on my luck. Past told me. I'd need to go to arena with a -Atk +Res Hector, if I did that now. I usually fodder the new units, this one will be foddered after serving as TT unit, as long as I do not pull one who is much better.

Same for my Minerva :3
Ok, that's stupid, I know! Both are perfectly good. But this Michalis will eat so many feathers and does the same job as my Minerva does...
I effectively get nothing out of it!

Not really. His SI costs have been a grand total of a 4* subaki, a 4* Boey, a 3* Barst and a 4* palla, all of which were summoned. And the heavy blade seal is just coins. His merges cost feathers, but he’s a main cog in my defense team as is thanks to other attack buffers that still allow him to hit and active heavy blade, and he can tank Reinhardt and Brave Lyn and then kill them. He’s probably part of the reason I snagged 10 defends last week, and is a main reason why every flier challenge on the GHBs are a cakewalk and have never once required a second run through.

So for his power, he has cost all of 4 Michalis copies and 80,000 feathers, a worthy sacrifice to the king of macedon.

Some of that is good, some of it is going to be a pain. I liked having a dragon unit as a bonus unit, not to mention a hyped bonus unit, because I slaughtered my way to tier 20 in week 1 of Myrrh, and snagged 4 defends. Week 2 I dropped out of tier 20 (but did manage my highest score at 4940) and I snagged 10 defends.

I would not argue with a permanent dragon unit either. But having common horse units invites cancer emblem to try to retake the stage.

Yeah, they would have Nowi/Fae pop in as a bonus unit, and dragon emblem spread like an uncontrolled cancer last arena season. Julia was the cure to cancer. Lol

She can be more flexible with this build deals with blues, greens and cavalry. Even without being healed best pairing is with marth new refine falchion, this is enemy phase.

To deal better with ranged cavalry use fury vantage but then loses in versatility... Rahjat is better for this build.

Hmmm. For those weeks when Lloyd is a bonus hero, he can be redeemed without too much difficulty. Fury and CD seal brings him up to a respectable 29 def and 39 res against dragons(who cannot target his def because he attacks only 1 space.) With that and his Regal Blade, he hits 51 atk unbuffed(53 if the target has full HP) You could give him Swordbreaker to let him duel swords. He could be a pretty good Ayra counter, especially if you give him Def Ploy as his C-Skill. He could also run a combo Spd Ploy C skill and Def Ploy seal.

Xander can be used to shut down any and every green mage who doesn't have CA, by simply giving him Vantage and TA3.

Despite my disdain for Narcian's personality, with his Emerald ax and his naturally high(for an ax) res, he should be able to withstand Reinhardt without too much trouble. Fury is, again, the go-to. I would switch his Lancebreaker for Ax breaker. Oh, and he can easily take out Nowi, Ninian, and F!Corrin(but watch for the left field Windsweep)

Navarre can hit the 40 spd bench mark with just a seal or Fury. He really wants a Wo Dao and a 2 CD special to help out his pitiful 31 atk. He'd clock in at 45 with the Wo Dao(48 with Fury) which can make him decently fast. And as with Lloyd, swordbreaker can allow him to take on Ayra, cause she lands a hit, he counters, and if he has Moonbow, it'll fire on his follow-up counter. With the added Wo Dao damage, taht should be enough to take him down. I'd probably recommend Fury Close Defense like Lloyd.

Michalis is a fairly easy one to build. Fury or Fortress Def, Quick Riposte B/Close Defense Seal, or Vantage B/Quick Riposte Seal, with his Wo Dao Hautclere effect. He strikes like a meteor, and even without the help of his fellow fliers, he can survive almost anything that isn't magical or carrying a Ruby/TA Sword.

Are there any between this one and my previous post who I missed? I tried to keep them with skills that are not limited to 5 star exclusives.

Xander, Michalis, Ursula, Robin and Lloyd if you make right they are very strong.
Xander is very easy to build, QR2 on B and ready to go, i put Triangle Adept on A in some cases and fury almost time.
Ursula make blade tome and you will have a very powerfull blue mage.
Robin(F) you will need Raven tome to kill every incolor and blue foes.
Michalis is a monster, using flying buff you can get 50 def.
The only problem with Lloyd is: Red. This spot is very disputable and he don't get chance against VL ike, Xander, Ryoma, Ayra, Zelgius among other excelent Sword user, but 30 res (by default) will can easily bait green foes like nino, soren and julia.
Well, it's up to you. I have all of thoses i say 5* and each one can be a tough hero.

Feathers needed to get the new rotating heroes on my current team level for arena:
518.600
Feathers I had needed with the old heroes:
286.200
Of these: fethers I will invest anyway, because the hero for it is good:
282.000
Loss on feathers by this change during the next months for the reason to remain on current level:
514.400
Feathers I needed to invest to remain in Tier 20 with last weeks Arena team:
148.000 (minus 22.000 · x for Olivia merges which are not necessary)

With an average calculation of 80k~100k feathers a month, I will need half a year to finish working on the "new" heroes.

Not to mention that other people will be able to do that more quickly because they already started.
Time I needed to get permanently into Tier 20 (success) with the old system: two months
Time I will need now: unsure.

These are the numbers. Thank you, IS, for a huge lot of unnecessary extra work! Go on, shit on my dreams!

And that’s why I’m content with being tier 19.5 and just building my AA scores. I’ve increased my AA score average by about 100 points over the last month from seal usage and skill optimization on a budget scale. IS can be so dynamic with arena that trying to remain on par with the current system (unless you are whale caliber or have devoted your resources since day 1 to stay tier 20 and don’t care about multiple projects) is almost impractical. My scores steadily go up 10-20 points per season, and I’m ok with that. I don’t have to burn crests to know my fate (had to do that just to manipulate my score to be high enough to reach T20), and can now wait until eventually I am powerful enough to have a shot at T20 permanent residency.
