what difference is there between a 3% Pity Rate vs 5% rate

Is the 2% actually a huge difference or is this a method for gacha games to get people to pull.
I was watching linkking7 video on saving orb and he stated that a 3% pity rate looks good but when you flip it around you have a 97% chance of not getting the unit you want (excluding pity brakes). The pity rate only goes up by .25% which isn't alot when you think about it
can anybody do the math to see if there is an actual difference or it's just more mind games from gacha to get you to summon.
Thoughts on the percentage system, not saying it's bad because i know other gacha are worse but just asking on the low percentage versus how many times we pull looking for a 5* and leave unhappy.

The difference in focus rate from the pity build up is actually really small and more psychologically significant than anything. I think it's purpose is to manipulate you into spending more orbs.

The pity rate is more fail safe than anything. The difference between a 5 star on a legendary banner vs a normal is 8th and 11th pull from what I remember. So the pity rate from 3% to 5% is statistically significant. Does pity rate matter? In short, yes.

In a technical sense (i.e. mathematical), a higher rate does give a better chance at obtaining a 5 Star. As someone with experience with other gacha games, Heroes is considerably more generous than most, whether it be rates and quantity of orb distribution. But in the end, you're still at the mercy of the RNG.

tbh, though, the pity rate is kind of a cop out so they don't have to give us a proper "guarantee" system.
