Weapon Description Misleading (gift incoming)

From a recent tweet, I've learned that the weapon descriptions are misleading, particularly when it comes to the 'After combat' piece. Apparently many of the weapons with this description require you to actually attack the target.

(woot - free stuff!)

So I'm assuming Light/Dark Breath require you to attack to get the buffs/debuffs to activate, correct? I'm curious about the second piece as well. Say I attack an archer with Light Breath+ - will the damage be calculated off the lesser defense value, or do I need to be 2 spaces away. I'm assuming the former, but I want to make sure I understand exactly how these weapons work before using my resources.

Glad I just stuck with lightning breath and didn't play around with the others yet. I will take a free upgrade to something though.

Still need to attack to get the buffs/debuffs. Still need to be 2 spaces away and run dc to get that effect, if it runs like the lightning breath upgrade.

So that effect is pretty weak for Light/Dark breath, because if you are running Distant Counter, you are not attacking. Not completely useless, but it's a one or the other kind of deal. You get the defense value calculation (enemy phase), or you get the buffs/debuffs (player phase). That is certainly a bummer.

Until we get a good offensive dragon, I don't see light/dark breath being all that useful over lightning breath. There might be some niches here and there for them, but not for general use. The built in dc is too handy unless you are fighting in the 740-750 range where it is nothing but melee.

Yeah omg I noticed this; According to the description, Camilla's Green Egg+ is literally the same when you Refine it. I thought something wasn't right, since that's not a cost-efficient upgrade when your weapon doesn't even change, and how the other festive weapons (Dancer's Fan, Blessed Bouquet, etc.) got cool upgrades

Report

They aren't changing any abilities, just the descriptions of abilities that may be misleading (Ones that specifically say "After combat"). Sorry, the spring weapons seem to not be getting any major buffs at this time (Same with the summer weapons).

Report

From testing, the damage calculated off the lesser defense effect, does work as long as you are attacking a ranged unit. Doesn't have to be 2 space away.

As I have upgraded my Ninians light breath+ I can say that you do get the buff when attacked, but it doesnt last to the next turn. So you get attacked on enemy phase get the buffs then they disappear on your phase. So the effect is limited on enemy phase unless you get attacked by multiple people. At least the up arrow appears when I get attacked unless that is a mistake. Nevermind you do have to attack but it can be on enemy phase i misunderstood the question.
