She is my favorite character out of the entire cast, and I love her. But is it really worth investing in her if I have Celica and Tharja both with +atk IVs? Is she even viable? What strengths does she have compared to celica and there's? Also, how come most of the builds on sanaki champion raventome istead of her original Cymbeline? Cymbeline seems like a good weapon? :C
Cause Cymbeline isn't all that great, it's extra effect is a purely support ability, so not that great on an offensive unit.
I mean as a Raven tome she is in fact a very strong Red Mage, likely one of the strongest Red Raven units actually. Other then that you CAN use her Cymbeline and keep her Triangle Adept then get her a breaker B-skill like "Red Tome Breaker" and use her and her high Resistance to crush other mage units that aren't blue lol
Cymbeline contributes to support, not offense, as others have said. With her high atk, I'd personally run a Blade tome on her. That said, most of her use is in the player phase, being spent nuking enemies in one hit or round. Her base kit makes her a great green tome check but she may want a Blade tome with buffs on hand to really drive the most damage in a turn.
Keep in mind that her best asset is her offense, and style her for it, and you should be able to make a very powerful red nuke in one of many ways.
I used to wonder the same thing for the longest time, like as to what made her rated so highly. Do you have a reason to use her if you have the ones you mentioned? No, but I wouldn't really be thinking like that in the first place. I just do.
She basically checks out every Green nicely (basically a oneshot unless it's, like, cover tile Julia) as well as potentially Swordies (Swordbreaker). That's one of the better builds I've seen. TA > Raven Tome is just a universal fix, and use can use it to doublecheck common threats. I run it with QR.
She has carried me through three Trials so far with but a *4 Raven tome with neutral Atk. That's 44 Atk unbuffed, but not only does it kill with massive Triangle Advantage, but she also takes neglegible damage. It's very hard to 2HKO, and I think she even survives an Hone Lyn. I give her QR since most of those she tanks are ranged units. Her Atk is so good even my +Atk Leo with the +version still loses to 1 Atk. Worth noting, a Distant Def Seal helps.
Sanaki at +RES is one of only three red units (S!Leo, Caeda, Sanaki) who - with the right build - can survive +ATK Deathblow Reinhardt without running a defensive Special (not that ranged units can). That should give you an idea of her mage dueling potential. She's also tied for the highest ranged attack in the game. She is slow...but with the right B slot she can be devestating.
People run Raven on her because when run with TA it mitigates her low defense and allows her to tank bows. It also charges her offenses to high heaven aganist green and colorless units. Basically, it helps her offensively and defensively. It's also a budget pick because she comes with TA.
People run Cymbeline primarily for it's higher might and better arena scoring. However, I'd recommend removing TA when running it as her attack is high enough that she can actually KO blues when TA is unequipped (especially with a strong A slot).
Her Res looks pretty high : P probably will be a beast in magic duels...
Her attack is also monstrous, slap a Raven tome and Triangle Adept... She will probably one-hit almost every green and colourless unit xD I'll check for you.
Edit: Sanaki with Raurroraven+ and Triangle Adept 3 can kill all Green & Colourless units EXCEPT for Fae, Faye, Arthur, Sheena and Hawkeye
