Laegjarn is going to get:
R Duel Flying 3
Grants HP+5. If unit is 5★ and level 40 and unit's stats total less than 170, treats unit's stats as 170 in modes like Arena.
(Higher-scoring opponents will appear.
Stat total calculation excludes any values added by merges and skills.)

Are these going to be a big deal or no? Right now Im kicking myself for not pulling a flying olivia

Yes theyre going to be a big deal but not right away.
Sure its great that my palla can get 170 bst arena weight, but it sucks that she has to give up distant counter for it, thereby making her effectivness at dealing with winter tharjas that less worthwhile.

Then again, since arena is broken right now, theres no big deal.

I'm not at all focused on arena right now because of the whole BST change and feed the bonus unit kill thing. It just isn't fun anymore.

I can understand some reasoning behind why they did it, to make people actually use units instead of using them as score batteries, but,they literally just made the problem worse because instead of using 3 units for combat and then the bonus unit as a score buffer, you use three units as a score buffer and one unit for combat.

Yeah it feels like I'm not even playing the game anymore. I'm just trying to somehow get Anna to kill something while stacking support/defense focused abilities on my units with their Aether they'll never apply. It's just not fun anymore. I kinda with they just did away with bonus units altogether at this point. Hopefully it gets better soon.

In my opinion IS keeps releasing good changes on the arena, on the last update they introduced the concept of giving kills to the bonus units, which made arena more challenging and fun (if you get a +10 core arena becomes so easy). Now we have those skills that will make character that score low score much higher, which means more variety.
Should i get scared of dancers? Not that much, dancers will still score less since dance and sing only cost 150sp against dual rallies 300sp.
I'm down for anything that makes arena more challenging and fun

Fun is killing enemies with units you like and care about.
The way the arena is now is not fun anymore, I didn't build up 8 or so 5+10 units just to have them be cheerleaders for a unit I don't care about.

I'm with you on this one and I have other reasons on top of it for hating the bonus unit kill thing. Nonetheless, different people have different ideas of enjoyment

Fun for me is having to think, not just using Nino or Nowi to kill everyone, arena was starting to get boring, killing enemies with you core units was just too easy. At least now I have to think about how I can set up kills for a certain unit, and this gives me more challange

I do find myself that it gets less interesting if Nowi can just destroy everything and that it's more fun trying to figure out how to feed kills to Felicia. However, I also found that I tended to have enough trouble with strong enemy teams using dancers even before bonus unit kills were an issue. I think arena can actually be quite hard if they would let Veronica and other healers and Reinhardt and Nino and dancers and dragon fang Karla appear at any level without having to give up their A-slots. This whole business of bonus unit killing everything is such an insult to good team design and to just good Fire Emblem team play.

If that's actually the ability, that is freakin' dumb. I mean it does basically do exactly what I was suggesting (remove BST and just focus on rarity and unit level), but making it an ability is far more convoluted than just incorporating the change flat out. The least they could have done was make it a seal instead so it could be used on any arena team, since they already placed an importance on using bonus allies, which Laegjarn won't always be.

There is no way BST was implemented for the sake of balance. Its like being given the choice between a range of sports cars and a budget sedan in a race, but then being told that the sports cars have to make it cross-country whereas the sedan only has to reach the end of the block. Thats not balance, or choice. And driving a sedan around the block isn't particularly fun.

If I had to guess, the problem they see is that a stagnant armor meta doesnt encourage pulling much from new banners, so what they're doing is fixing it in a way that in and of itself encourages whaling

Merges and skills add a lot to arena score. These skills will be amazing for +10 mages, but unless the sp cost is 300sp Armor units will still score the highest and won't change much.

I'll be more impressed by Atk or Spd +3 Duel skills, HP +5 is a joke.
