Unlocking Potential

Hi, I'm closing in to having 20k feathers again, so I have a dillema as always, because I don't know in what hero I should invest. I already have a great offense team, so I don't really need an addition to it, so I would like to focus on my defense team. My 4 star heroes I would consider to promote are: Xander, Effie, Nowi, Nino, Jeorge.

As of defensive potential I was mostly thinking Nowi, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Nino has incredible bulk, so probably choose her.
BUT, if you don't already have a strong green unit (e.g. Hector, Julia, etc.) then choose Nino instead (given she doesn't have like -spd IV or something).

I guess you meant nowi instead of nino in your first suggestion :D but hey, thanks for the feedback. I have 2x Nino at lvl40 and one has -spd+res and the other has -def+spd. I have no good green units, so that's why I keep thinking about her (my only good green other than that is Camilla). I guess I'll stick to her, although she's not really the most defensive pick.

If you have other cav troops xander on a horse emblem is great defensively. I've got fury, quick reposte on him and he's a beast with that distant counter weapon.

I have 4 star ursula, gunther and jagen on my cav team with 4 star xander. I was also thinking about that, but the other horsemen I have are not strong enough I'm afraid, so it would be a long-term investment, cause I would have to upgrade the others/have luck on summoning and then spend some heroes for inheritance. But horse emblem is definitely a strong option with xander now.

Xander is arguably the best investment for a red unit if you can assemble a Horse Emblem, otherwise there are better red lords for vanilla teams. Definitely top contender if you can manage to build Rein/Cecilia/Ursula

Effie is a great self-functioning unit if you have atk+ IV but she's a hefty investment since she really wants the brave lance+, and you'll also need a good mage check if you want to use her especially against Reinhardt who can OHKO her most of the time

Nowi is probably the safest bet since she's the most independent of team support and fares really well for defensive teams; the only downside is that she is a bit reliant on atk or speed boons, and also available as 5* in gacha

Nino is fantastic in general but really needs a spd boon and at least 2 supporting/buffing units (dancer + Ephraim/Eirika) to be effective. She's still great as an anti-meta pick against mages by giving her fury & G tomebreaker

Jeorge I personally wouldn't bother with, since archers in general aren't quite as good as they used to be and even worse since the introduction of defensive tiles
