Underused, Unique, and [Underrated?] Specials

These specials are not defensive specials like Escutcheon or Pavise, or Noontime or Sol. In fact, these specials are rarely ever used in Arena and less common than the ones I mentioned. I'll just cut to the chase: *Reprisal and Vengeance*. Where are these specials? The only way I can see these specials being effective are in a Brash Assault + Desperation build. In fact, I use a Desperate Assault Alfonse with Reprisal in AA and it works very well. Imo, I find these specials to be quite underrated and unique and open up room for very interesting builds. It's a shame that Reprisal and Vengeance are essentially forgotten. But is there anyone who actually made effective use of these specials?

I've given Reprisal to my Nephenee. Her Fury helps build up the damage she'll inflict, and once Wrath triggers...

It's not that they're forgotten, it's just that they're a bit more unreliable compared to other specials. Those two specials need the user to take damage for it to actually do damage while, for the majority of the time, you're trying to avoid damage at all costs. It's better to use a special that will consistently deal a good chunk of damage than to use a special that requires you to be on the brink of death to do much of anything, at least in my opinion.

Any unit that is hard to kill in a few hits, like high defense/res armors, or bladetomes with just enough bulk and speed to take serious damage but survive, and units with brazen skills or fury, all make good enough use of the Reprisal/Vengeance specials. Those specials are so risky though, and don;t really do significant damage unless you're already on the brink of death. They're better for things like arena defense.

Assuming you can get the requirements, I actually think Vengeance can be the best 3-turn cooldown Special. It has the potential to rival Dragon Fang's damage output, as a 3-turn special.

I actually did a topic on them a long time ago:

tl;dr Firesweep and potential Quad users are best fit for them...along with the obvious high HP thereshold (ESPECIALLY Reprisal). I've actually tried to make Reprisal work, but it's a little hard to justify:

It's basically it's lower cooldown option next to Vengeance. If you can consistently manage to get a max HP limit (like 1 HP) AND you character has like 50 HP, it has the potential to be marginally stronger than Moonbow. It takes 40 Def to do 12 Dmg on Moonbow, and the same amount of HP reduction to match it, for example. I use it on Firesweep + Wrath Charlotte.

so, yeah. That's a pretty significant and situational requirement next to something as consistent as Moonbow.

I actually really like Vengeance. Someone like Charlotte, who can gather up to 50 HP, hits with 20-25+ Dmg alone...and then you include Wrath. I would actually prefer this for a lot of quad users (think, Oguma) since they're hitting a least an extra 20 Dmg without even taking a hit.

I left Vengeance on my +Hp Tharja and it works really well with her vanilla build + Desperation. I also have a Jaffar and Takumi who use it with moderate success. I also left Sol on my Alphonse because it helps him stay within his Swordbreaker threshold, it works pretty well for him, especially when IS reduced its turn-count.
