Trying to make an anti-Falchion dragon

Tiki already handles any Naga tomes that pop up so I was working on some builds for Ninian that would let her be able to bait Falchion users. I was trying to avoid Triangle Adept since I didn't want her to explode the instant any green unit looks at her and this is about the best I came up with. She's also receiving Ward Dragons from little Tiki who I've been using as a cleric for the team, so +4 Def/Res provided she's not out of position.

Good enough or is Triangle adept a necessity?

Also Close Defence seal is on Tana, so it's not available.

It works and I can definitely see her killing Falchion users. You don't need TA since Ninian has sword breaker which almost garauntees a KO.

She has enough defense to survive at least one attack, especially during enemy phase, just be careful with an Alm with brave falchion, he'd definitely finish her without breaking a sweat.
But other than that, she's perfect for being an anti-falcion unit.

All-in Attack Alm was the one thing I couldn't figure out how to survive without resorting to triangle adept. She can just barely survive (with 1 hp, so quite literally) as long as she's got a defence tile to use but other than that no hope.

That said I can't remember the last time I even saw an Alm in arena though. He's a pretty rare pick.

If you want to make sure you survive Alm at all costs. Run exactly that setup (the whole TA, Swordbreaker) but if you can, add Deflect Melee, as it makes sure he cant kill you if he's running Heavy blade and glimmer (that's the optimal build, and it's hella rare, but it's still out there)

Don't let him initiate on you. The brave effect only works on his turn. Or did you mean that he nearly ends her with a single strike, nevermind two?

Report

yeah, honestly to defeat all with a dragon you kind of have to go all in with sb3 and ta3. Really he is the exception to the rule and it's better to just have a contingency when he pops up rather than altering the build just for him

As you mentioned, Alm is a rare sight and is one of the few falchioners that can take this Ninian out. But I'm curious why you want to avoid TA. Surely as a dancer there is almost no situation where you need Ninian to be in range of a green?

I could say something like ‘more leeway with positioning’ but to be completely honest it’s more personal preference than anything. If I’m considering TA in the first place I try to see if there’s another less situational alternative that will still work. TA is great when you can hard counter but generally useless the rest of the time.

And you also did say ‘almost’ which isn’t ‘never’. It’ll almost never come up true, but every now and then she’s going to have to take the hit.
