Trash Summoning RNG?

So I've been playing since release, f2p only (maybe if orbs were 1/4 the crazy price they are now, I might buy some). I see people with loads of 5-stars on their accounts here, casually suggesting teams like Azura/Hector/Ninian/Young Tiki, naming their strategies for GHB things like 'I have good units' with descriptions simply saying 'pretty faceroll easy with these guys'. A few weeks ago I read a guide that said 'just inherit Distant Counter from your spare Hector' like we all have piles of Hectors just lying around. I read a guide earlier saying 'Young Tiki only appears as a 5-star though, so getting your +10 version might be a little hard.' Like... you think???

Thing is, I have only a handful of 5-stars, and every summoning focus gives me 3-star duplicates for days. No Linde even after pouring 90+ orbs into just blue spheres during Hero Fest and Female Mages last month. No Hector. No Ryoma. No Tharja, Young Tiki, Azura, Reinhart, Lucina, Marth, Ike, Eirika, Camilla, etc, etc, etc. Literally every team suggested for the Camus GHB has 1-4 5-stars I don't have.

I feel like I've been particularly screwed in summoning. Am I actually right here, or just paranoid?

I feel you but that's just how Gacha and gambling works; it favours the house. Even with a 3% Chance, getting a +10 of a hero requires approximately $1500; that's if you're lucky. Getting a non-banner is near impossible so don't worry about those.

If you really think about it, 3% is 1 in 33 chance and it will always be 3% on every single attempt. Those odds are close to landing a number on Roulette. I spent 200 orbs to get one 5-Star Hero (Azura) during Hero Fest. Even so, I was happy with that.

My advice is to use this sites "summon simulator" to gauge what it'll feel like to spend X amount of orbs in a banner (or satisfy you mentally.)

If you're having troubles with Camus GHB, there are videos of people completing it with 3-Star F2P heroes on Youtube and FEH Reddit.

And the summon simulator here just makes me depressed. I did it several times yesterday trying to see what it would take for B. Cordelia; on average it took about 100 orbs each time. I only have 34 right now...

Yeah, you have. I've been f2p for a long time, and your luck is horrendous. I've been able to get a good amount of 5 stars, and I've collected around 100,000 feathers. I am generally happy with what I got, but for you it seems like resetting is a possibility.

I think your issue is how you summon as a F2P player. I am also F2P and I do full summons every time I get 20 orbs. This assures that I am always getting any 5 stars that I can. There was one time I summoned in Celica's banner. I really wanted Celica, so I was tempted to just summon reds, but I decided to go for everything. I got Celica, Mae, and Genny all at once.

I suggest to start doing that as well. For example, when you were trying to get Linde, there could have been lots of other orbs there that wouldn't have given you a 5 star that you didn't choose.

Of course, I was incredibly blessed by getting a +ATK/-DEF Reinhardt during his first summoning focus. He's carried my team since then.

Same for me, i got a +Atk -Res Reinhardt during that banner and i was hoping for Seliph because i'm a huge fan of FE4.

Only later i realized how lucky i was.

Having two +atk thunder god right here. Can't wait to see ppl got messed up by these.

I did like you for long time, but i didn't have all that luck, since Celica banner i started to use orbs only for one color and until now it worked well. Got Celica and B.Cordelia.

Btw getting Celica Mae and Genny at once is beyond luck.

Ehm mathematically speaking, thats not how it works. At all. You were just lucky there.
I spent 200 orbs just to get the same celica.
What matters here is the pity rate going up with each failure to summon 5*.
If you do a full summon, you risk getting a 5* that you didnt want and reseting your % to so%.
This happened to me even while sniping reds, i got a chrom that screwed me over and had to start again.
Spending orbs on colors that have characters you dont want can NEVER be better than sniping, only for the purpouse of getting X specific unit.
On the other hand, if what you want is any 5* then yes, you should go for full summons all the way.

I was assuming the person just wanted more 5 stars. Yes, if you want a particular character, it would be better to just go for that color, but I don't really care that much. I like working with what I get.

I used to do that, that's how I got Olwen/Jaffar/Priscilla. But then I read guides here saying going for specific characters is better. Right now I really only want B. Cordelia, so... idk.

You don't seem to have much luck indeed.. Several things that could help you :

1. Save orbs : from what i can see, it looks like you summoned from different banners (as jaffar, faye, olwen, spring xander and takumi were all from different banners i think). You have to force yourslf not to summon when you have, say, less than a 100 orbs saved, meaning missing 1 out of 2 monthly banners. With this, you're less likely to lose percentage.

2. Check out CleanGameReviews youtube page, it shows the "true" percentage of having a 5* knowing the color of the stone, which depends on the banner. Link for the Bride one :

3. If you're having trouble with GHB, check out mkv on youtube. He shows how to do GHB and other challenges using only free 3* units. Link for camus (which i used) :

4. If you have xander, upgrade him. I don't see any red 5*, so xander would be a good one.

5. 5* aren't everything. Mkv proves it with his videos. I see you have two 4* olivia : you should merge them. There really isn't any use in a 5* olivia, she'll just get silver sword+. But if you find 4 other 3* or 4* olivia (which is more likely than getting two olivias to 5* and merge them) then you'll get an olivia with the same raw stats as a 5* one. Basically, any unit that doesn't get a lot from getting to 5* (usually a legendary weapon) is better to merge at 4*, especially if foundable at 3* and 4*.examples : cecilia (great for cavalry team), nino, cherche, healers, setsuna etc

6. Don't give up !

1. I see your logic, but I feel like they include/introduce 1 new, broken character with each new focus, perhaps to tempt players away from saving orbs. Right now I really want B. Cordelia before she's gone... not going to get 100 orbs before 6/14.

4. I do have a Xander, but he's 3* level 24 or so, I've been debating training him up but haven't gotten to it, is he really so good that taking him from 3* to 5* is worth the time/feathers?

5. I actually have 4 Olivia's, got lucky early on with my first and she's been a staple in most of my teams. Then got 3 more 3* in a day about a month ago, trained one of them up to 4* but have left the other two alone. Are they worth building up for the Hone Atk 3 for SI, or just giving the one with the best IV's a stat boost?

6. Trying, reading guides here makes me feel like everyone has better summoning luck than me. Feelsbadman.jpg.

Instead of focusing on the individual unit, trying to build a team that can do well in the arena (eg horse emblem most likely). my alter account was lucky to get a flier emblem ready and 5 star three main characters, 4800 points is very achievable. If you are doing horse emblem team, 4750 shouldn't be that difficulty. As my main, (PTP) which has tons of S tier characters with best IV ( 4 Hectors, +spd Ryoma, +atk Ike, +spd Azura....) in terms of arena score, just a little more than my alter. In the end, PTP just gives you the option to try different team builds. If you can build a good team, why bother other units.

Honestly not worth it to try and snipe. You miss out on so much inherent fodder for such a minuscule extra chance to get a specific character. Only thing is at this point I would say skip colorless units(unless there is an elite unit like bride Cordelia) you pretty much got the best you can hope for and they have very little inherit fodder.

Everytime you roll a 4* with perfect IV( or even 3*), always keep them and upgrade them depending on what you lack or for upcoming arena bonus unit. The first two units I upgraded to 5* is Anna and Sharena. So I know for every 6 weeks, I am set for atleast 4 weeks. They had help me gotten a huge amount of feathers from arena. All my strongest units are upgraded from 4*(I had upgraded atleast 7 units, which is more than half of your 5*, making me assume you are not using your feathers properly or are not doing well in Arena)
