TIL: Tactic buffs still work in a 3-1 team composition

I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I'll post this anyway just in case there are people who didn't know--like me.

During one of my Arena Assault runs, I wasn't thinking properly and fielded a team of three Infantry (one of the units had both Def and Res Tactic) and one Flier. I was so pissed that I did that since I thought that none of my units would get the buffs; this was until I clicked on my Flier and noticed that she got +6 to both Def and Res while the others got nothing. (Based on how the description was worded, I always thought that you needed a 2-2, 2-1-1, or 1-1-1-1 team composition to pull this off.)

In practice, this should allow you to run a full Armor core with an Askr Trio or Fjorm for Arena and still have the buffs apply to the bonus (just not the Armors). This should be fine because you would want your bonus unit to always get all of the kills for maximum scoring. Outside of that, for something like GHB/BHB/LHB, you can have a team 1 Infantry / Cavalry Mage and 3 Flying Dancers (don't know why, but you could) and still give all the max buffs to the Mage without needing to run Wave skills (too inconsistent) or Hone/Fortify skills (smaller buffs) should you need to. (Still, I think I would prefer to use Tactic skills in a team comp that isn't 3-1.)

They work on the unit that is the odd man out yes. They won't be buffing your Ikes however.

EDIT: So in theory a 3-1 is fine but only if you want to buff the one unit and disregard all others.

Yeah, I was just surprised because I misunderstood the skill description for the Tactic skills.

I did list a few examples where I thought this would have decent application such as a someone running 3 Armor and Askr Trio + Fjrom as the bonus unit, but I still think it's better to go 2-2, 2-1-1, or 1-1-1-1 rather than a 3-1.

I can see how people might not have caught on to this...I myself, just realise this. But then again, the description does paint it that way when you read it again.

As someone who really likes certain Tactics (namely Def/Res for defensive units), this is kind of cool.

i are very good at the english x.x

(But in all seriousness, the description does work, but only after figuring this out oneself. I don't know if this was clear in the original Japanese description, but I just wish that the translators / the ones responsible for localizing FEH were a bit more clear with these skill descriptions.)

It's been months and ppl are still trying to figure it out? There's dozens of posts about how it works. No need for another

Like I said, I never tried putting together a 3-1 team composition with Tactic skills, so this came off as a complete accident (hence the title, TIL). My bad that I wasn't there to read all of these other posts, but I decided to make one anyway in case there were others like me who didn't know and never came across those posts you speak of. (I also started off by saying that I have no idea of this is common knowledge at this point because I didn't know the Tactic skills worked like that.)
