Tiki: Young vs Adult opinions

So while looking through the dragon team guide and just the two characters themselves while deciding which of my Adult Tiki to level up (-HP/+Atk or -Spd/+Res) and use I see a lot of things saying that Younger Tiki is better almost exclusively because she's better at tank baiting Julia's Naga tome, a Flier buffed Spring Camilla, or a cavalry buffed Cecilia but that's about it.

At a lot less speed, the adult form comes with an extra hit point and the highest base attack and defense of all dragon units available. Honestly it seems like the adult is considerably better for general use to me. I'm Tier 17 Arena atm and I never see Julia or even Spring Camilla (granted I usually do intermediate runs) and Cecelia is far less common then Reinhardt (even in non-cavalry teams) but there are often Hectors and adult Tiki seems very well equipped to deal with him in battle as well as other heavy physical axes like Frederick, Cherche, Raven, Anna, normal, Camilla etc and strikes me as a much more useful physical tank with a still semi-decent resistance.

This is all from a more general use than trying to use her for a dragon only team and needing a counter for Julia/Camilla/Cecilia to save the other dragons of course but it just seems like Adult Tiki isn't regarded as good a unit as she really is imo.

Wait why are you doing intermediate runs........
Anyway they are both good. Ytiki has the BST and stat spread that top tier arena goers like myself are looking for in an all dragon team however. I went to tier 20 the first time tier 20 was opened to us. I'm going there again next season. Atiki is just too slow to allow for the versatility you want in your b slot because the only thing you can run is gtomebreak.

If Atiki is all you have then hey, use her! But trust me if you ever wander into advanced matches and start pulling 690+ you will see what the problem is immediately. Tons of Ceces with blade tomes running full cav buffs who will run your Atiki down.

I do them for an easy solid 7 streak first then never get around to trying advanced runs xD

As for Tiki, QR 2/3 works fine for adult Tiki it seems and like I said, I just feel that the adult is more useful in a non-dragons only top tier arena usage is sorta what I was getting at. Like Tempest Trials or even Squad Assaults and story or GHB missions, she just strikes me as more useful in most all other situations that you don't reliably expect to see those 3 specific green mages buffed and threatening your dragon only team.

The guides are entirely geared towards advanced arena players who wanna get to tier 20 though so? Arena is endgame. New modes come and new modes get finished but arena is eternal.
You make a solid point but you have misinterpreted the intent of the guides from the start. I beat squad assault with bad IVs 4 star fliers with no flier buffs and no skill inheritance and a half built level 25 draug because I only have 2.5 solid teams right now. The other modes can be beaten with anything so of course Atiki doesn't have a problem.
Arena is on another level entirely and makes even the smallest flaw like a bad IV on an SS class character clear.

Te problem is you are doing intermediate runs.
Try to do advanced and you WILL meet julias.
That aside, A.tiki may be fine, but im not convinced with her slow ass speed.

I had a 5* Adult Tiki (+Atk -HP) and for me, even though her damage was great, she was so slow that she couldn't work as a tank for many units. As soon as I got my +Spd -Res Young Tiki, I used the other one as a Lightning Breath+ fodder and I don't regret it. Y!Tiki is a lot easier to use and generally does a better job as a tank. Hector always dies to her if he's baited thanks to the follow-up attack she does, the extra atk and def in Adult Tiki is not needed for this.

First off, how don't you run into Julia in arena, I see her at least once a day when I grind arena, so you have some pretty good luck. Now, I would build your +atk/-hp adult Tiki for the extra striking power, since her res is not really worth getting a boon for. Adult Tiki and Young Tiki also play similar roles as a tank, but Adult is much more specialized than Young Tiki, and Young Tiki fared much better against green mages then Adult Tiki. If you want one that specializes as a green mate killer, go with Young Tiki, since she won't always get doubled by them, or just run a green tomebreaker on any of them. However both will do the job well. While Adult Tiki is one of my favorite units, in combat with green mages, she fares just slightly better than most hectors, so for your purposes, I would recommend Young Tiki, but only slightly.

I get your feeling.

I pulled the two of them at five stars and my first thought was the same as yours : ATiki is easily built (she exists @different rarity levels, meaning that you can give her loads of SP and try all the skills in the world on her + her vanilla build is decent enough) while YTiki has crappy native skills.

Everything needs to be changed on her skillset, from weapon to special, including ABC. And she only exists @ 5* rarity (unless she doesn't, but I haven't seen her yet).

Last problem of my YTiki is her IVs (+HP -Spd seriously) which seem really lower than ATiki. She is a lot more effort.
Now I've more or less built her, I can see why she shines more.

You should seriously try the advanced arena level. If you are tier 17 you won't be out of your league + you'll see more of the present meta.
Julia and hors emblem teams are indeed very prevalent.
