How many merges does it take to stay in tier 20. I have no problems reaching it like most f2p, but around how many merges does it take?
I plan on making a +10 nino in long term(I know she has low bst). With around how many merges my nino would make more points than a non-merged hector?
A +10 Nino has roughly the same bst as vanilla hector, I think. I'm now for a 2nd season in a row at tier 20 (f2p) with Zephiel, Effie +2, Amelia and Delthea. Amelia being a bonus unit is keeping me up there.
So you don't really need merges, because you can just go heavy and compensate a little bit. Depending too much on mages never got me far in arena.
To remain in tier 20 you need to score 4900+.
To achieve that you dont need a team of +10, but in total you should have around +10/+12 among all four members of the team which means that each advanced battle perfect (no deaths) will give you back at least 700 points.
Each two weeks on double points hero refresh, I usually end up with two +6 heroes (which are my core), one +3 (which I flip among several) and one which gives double points and does not require to have any merge.
Some others also gold the 3 basic heroes so they always have one double point hero each week, but it's really not worth the feathers at tier 20, since, apart from shareena, the other two are too weak.
Another strategy is to gold one of the two daily heroes which are in Arena for each season. But that's ridiculously expensive so 4* merge will also do its job (anyone has at least two copies). Still some of them (Cecilia, Sophia, Olivia) are powerful heroes anyway so they do not hurt to invest into.
Yeah. Cecilia and Olivia are good choices. Also they are both easily mergeable +5/6 silver.
Another thing that I do is to simply stick with the current focus and ditch my orbs into that to get a new chara gold for the next two weeks.
Another strategy: gold the last grand hero battle. Currently I will gold Valter for the next week since he has a strong set and will be there on refresh.
Starting from zero, I would gold shareena, cecilia and olivia and then stick with the GHB (when you have 20k feathers and you like the hero) and new focus heroes (when you have orbs).
I am F2P for now a bit less than 3 months.
I personally rushed straight to tier20 (climbing arena from my first week), never demoted from tier 20 and...

Hector, Camus, Sonya, BONUS UNIT (last season was Anna, so 3 green, 1 blue , super bad team).
And I'm Tier20 since the end of Sonya featuring arena.
To get to tier20, it's easy. To STAY in tier 20, it's less easy but just try to analyse the meta and put your heaviest (arena weight) units that counter it, in your team (for me it's Camus, Hector, Sonya), then add a crappy bonus unit that will help you to fail many arena run BUT make your score decent enough to stay tier20.
