Three Brave Roy Pulls. Merge them?

I somehow managed to get Roy for the third time in the CYL banner, and he actually has perfect IVs. (+ATK, -RES) I haven't merged the two other Brave Lions, and have both of em up to level 40. I don't see any reason not to merge them to this new Roy, but at the same time I don't want to waste rare units. Should I merge the two others onto this one?

Unless the +1 in two stats per merge makes a big difference (heavy blade Ike for example) it's never worth merging 5* unless you have at least three or four extra.

I don't really understand why I'd want to have 3 of the same unit though. Maybe it would help a bit for chain challenges and arena assault I guess, but I'd honestly want a stronger version more.

You can't use copies of the same units in arena assault. I'm trying to recall but don't think you can use them in TT or chain challenges either.

With multiple 5*s, the question is really if you have enough to merge and make an appreciable difference and if the unit has useful skills/weapons to fodder.

In the case of B!Roy, Galeforce would be his main offering for SI; and it is very niche. He would also appreciate being merged given the built-in Heavy Blade on Blazing Durandal. So, I'd merge him unless you have a crazy Galeforce build you've been hoping to pursue.

From what I can remember, I believe you can use copies of the same unit in chain challenges or tempest trials. I remember using several Olivia's in my runs since she was my only dancer and I had multiple copies of her. You are right about arena assault though. I guess galeforce would be a useful fodder but I don't see any other characters I have that would use it, unless I simply wanted to increase arena score. I think I'll merge.
