They're really desperate for our money aren't they

Two seasonal banners in a month, the first one starting right when hero fest ends
TWO.
Kliff in between
Legendary banner overlapping the second
Pre-hyped RD banner with beast units pre-announced, before the seasonals are even over.
Mythic hero system newly introduced

I don't care what kind of ridiculous or stupid powercreep comes in these two seasonal banners or even in the RD banner. For introducing the mythic hero system, I'm definitely not giving them a cent. Maybe I'm glad I didn't give them anything when AR released.

Jesus Christ and I thought I put money into this game.

I think the most I've put is near maybe the 2k mark, but that's over the last 2 years. I have to double check that in all honesty, haven't spent in a fair bit

Report

Yeah, though I may be second. I spent a fair bit on P!Olivia this time around. Which is why I said it may be more than I anticipated.

Probably don't pass 3k, but who knows. At least I've started killing the habbit. Since the most I do is the monthly one for the bonus mats and if I see a banner I really like, then I'll probably wait it out.

Report

I only spend on characters I really, really want. Or if it's a Hero Fest (damn 3.0 Hero fest XD)

Honestly, my next "spending" unit may just be Grandmaster M!Robin. I just hope he's not shit like infantry Robin.

Kliff is here to lift me up after the inevitable disappointment that will be the Christmas units

So you're salty? Okay then, you're salty at something that I kid you not only effects the upper echelons of Aether Raids that no ones hit yet. My Lord that's salty XD

On a side note, what did you expect? It's a fucking gacchapon. They gotta make money to keep the game running. Like, I'm not sure what you're expecting that makes this seem anything more than the usual for a gaccha.

Just be glad this isn't FGO where there's banners that you can only pull on with actual cash.

>"They gotta make money to keep the game running"
>game makes over 20 mil a month

Imagine defending shitty game practices from a game company that already makes a shitload of money.

Report

Yes they make money, no it's not as shitty as your making it out to be.

I always ask this when people make FEH look shitty.

Have you played FGO, or Dragalia, or any other popular Gaccha and seen their rates and the shit they pull? If not, go take a look, go see how bad pulling can be, and go look at how unlucky their players tend to be when the rates are abyssmally low).

Other than that. I'm not defending the company per se. I'm just confused how ya'll are so mad over something that was more than likely going to happen. If you seriously find this so annoying I love to see your reaction on the horror stories of other gacchas. Cause those games, oh boy those are probably highway robery.

Report

I am unabashedly mad. "Salty" is an abuse of the goodness of salt. (And for clarity, this part isn't directed at you specifically; the misusage is so common.) I don't even know how people managed to mistake anger or frustration for the most basic way to bring out the flavour of a thing. If there's one thing the game needs, it is some true salt rather than scoring gimmicks.

If aether fountains became upgradable I might, in best case scenario, have made T21 in four seasons starting with this one, and it would mean something. Instead, this mode starts to become, just like arena, a measure of spending ability more than of strategical ability, and the golden throne becomes like the arena crown - "I play to the cash-grab schemes of a company that is more interested in revenue than making a good game." It's embarrassing. So many games with other income models that aren't one-time payments end up with games which are so much more tasteful.

When AR first launched I was suspicious, and over the last few weeks I started to poke my head out. Now I get how they work. Am I surprised? No. Am I mad? I better be, for all that's worth and true. Who knows, maybe I give up on gaccha games if they're all like this. It's absurd.

Report

Thats the thing though. You're taking this far too seriously and getting mad at a video game for starters. The biggest error is taking a game so seriously you're made at a fucking character type added to a game, no wonder.

First off reaching said high tiers is still very much possible, does it require more work, hell yeah, and you gotta be efficient all the times, it's possible though so it's really not such an enormous deal. If you wanna talk about the game being P2W watch Akariss and watch how he clears most of his content as a F2P. And hell, there's room to move in what he does, so you can be F2P and pull for fun.

Second of all, the game is good, it's not a bad game for what it's worth. It's a free game and you can pay or not pay for commodities that speed up your progress, once again, T21 is hard to get too but not impossible as a F2P. Same for Aether Raids, just gotta focus your efforts. You're making this seem like it's impossible. This isn't Arena where buying all +10 units assures you a spot. Here in aether raids it assures you a slight advantage and if your tactical mind is still ass you'll lose to defense teams so I don't see this as purely P2W. Is there an advantage, yeah, but it's not as bad as you're making it out to be.

Third. What kind of games are you talking about that are "tasteful"? The most popular F2P games are similar to this in micro transactions. Look at FGO, Dragalia, hell Granblue even. Theres TCG's like Hearthstone that do this where card packs cost money. Clash of clans, castle builders, etc. All mobile games, if not at least the large majority, have micro transactions or adds.

It's not embarassing, it's how these work. And to be fair you're saying this is an embarassment when this is by far the kindest, most player friendly gaccha I've played and I've played alot of them, hell I've been playing gaccha's for 6 years and I hate other games for how scummy they are, most FEH players don't even know how abyssmally bad the rest of the gaccha's in existence are.

Go play FGO, save up about 1k of your hard earned currency, that is earned by grinding the same map for around 2-3 hours without auto battle for a few days at a time, and pull in a banner to not get a single character and let me know how bad it is then. Cause until you've experienced that level of let down, you haven't experienced anything yet my dude XD

And last but not least. Salty, is a colloquial term for mad, or angry. You're getting your knickers in a twist over the use of a word related to a condiment to signify anger when it's just a commonly used term.

TLDR; Alotta salt over one of the kindest most F2P friendly mobile games I've known.

Report

Thanks for the FGO perspective. I heard that the story is good and manageable as f2p so I was considering giving it a try actually.

Props to FEH for being one of the better f2p, but if FEH is a league or more above the others then gaccha as a whole looks terrible to me and I'll be extremely wary of any gaccha for the rest of my life.

I was comparing to stuff like StarCraft 2 (which is base f2p and also offers microtransactions) or even freaking RuneScape with their subscription model. Doing well at the game doesn't depend on spending more; the only thing holding me back from competing with the best is how well I can play. The issue with AR is that T21 will have a lot of strong opponents that I wouldn't be able to test just because I'm up against a paywall. And to make it worse, paying for merges on mythics is literally paying for points. It's not significantly different from buying L.Tiki+10 for arena.

I did a bunch of calculations on potential for f2p to hit T21 by using double unmerged mythics on both offense and defense. How well that works depends a bit on the availability of light and dark blessings outside summoning. I think investing in light and dark only is probably enough because once a player breaks into T21 it's not so hard to stay. If I don't rank top 1000 or 2000 each week I don't really care; that really is whale territory.

Do you think I'm unfamiliar with Akariss' work? I know he beats the system. I disagree with his philosophy of the game. Again, my interpretation of the golden throne like of the arena crown, "look at me I play right into the cash-grab system" nevermind whether any cash went in.

A game is a game, and there is meaning behind the plays that get made. Game developers have an enormous role in the leadership of a community of players, by creativity providing the infrastructure for further creativity in making plays. I would like to think that I have some grasp on aesthetics in game play and play style, that a game of chess or soccer or variance-dependent games like poker can be a work of art and appreciated as such. IS has taken this game in a hideous direction, and I take exception to it from an aesthetic perspective. I refuse to believe so quickly that gaccha must be this way. Maybe all the trending gacchas interpret gaccha this way, but I'd like to believe that there's a less corrupt version which remains either unrealized or obscure because it doesn't rake in as much money. For such a game and for what is beautiful and true, I am angry with the leaders we know as game developers.

Report

Of course dude no prob. Some gaccha's do tend to go off the deep end (I've seen some shit XD).

I do however completely understand your frustration. I'm just happy this game hasn't made me grind for a few months for currency before making me wish I'd never wasted the time on it.

PS: Yeah Once you hit Aether Raids T21 is will likely just become a fucking shitshow. Kinda like how T21 is full of units that really just take the cake on OP (looks at Surtr)

I don't know.

We got a Hero Fest instead of a new banner this week, where the only new unit is given out for free. Clarine and Klein BHB banner seems like a total skip. Tactics banner seens okish. Kliff is good, but the current HF with Ophelia is better.

We might get new daily banners during thw New Year celebration event, which means more free pulls.

We are going to get two TT before the legendary ends (which btw, it's quite promising with Hector, Eir, Marth and Fjorm + SY!Tiki and YT!Nino probably).

The Xmass banners are no different than the summer ones. Both are back to back.

The trully sad part is that no new unit is going to be demoted until next year.

Report

Yeah, that 's the only bad thing I have on mind rn. Maybe we'll get a beast unit demote to make it up? Oh maybe it's Ranulf? That'd be one hell of a demote
