I also used to have problems when it came to spending money on this game...used to get frustrated when my f2p orbs didn't get me anything, so I blew money on it until I got what I wanted. What helped me was to only summon only alongside my girlfriend, who served as a safeguard. After some time I learned to control my gambling issues by myself.
Games like this can be really abusive in this regard, seeing how it's basically gambling.

Try a new hobby or game that you can invest in. (Without paying preferably)
I play multiple gacha-styled games other than FEH on my phone, or just play a different styled game like a fps. Helps keep my mind off it.
For example: After wasting my load of orbs and getting pity broken, I take a deep breath and contact my friends to see if they’re up for a game of Overwatch. We did competitive, so I had to take my mind off of my bad luck and focus on getting that victory. Win or loss, we had lots of fun.
Anything works, that’s just what I do.
(Academics screws my excess time greatly though ugh)
I always tell myself; “Never gamble your money on games like this, it continually expands, with new introductions succeeding old ones. The advancement may never stop, and you may just end up wasting cash on a unit that one day may be considered weak.”
The only reason I might spend cash on this game is for my favorite characters. Though I’m not too dedicated at this game now, being stuck at tier 19.

I used to also spend a lot of money (not on FEH but puzzle and dragons where you also summon for heroes) and in the end just thought it wasn’t worth it. You’ll never beat the whales and I’d much rather spend the money on a console/PC game I’ll enjoy.
I still get urges to spend money. It was quite hard to resist when there are 2 hector banners and I haven’t gotten him at all yet! But I just tell myself I’ll treat myself to smash bros and pokemon lets go for christmas with the money I save up.
Just keep at it!

I'm sorry to hear it.
Have you considered trying smaller saving projects first? It was very ambitious of you to go for something that costs several hundred right on your first try. You went really well, too. But if you had some success with $40 and $60 items under your belt, you might have been more motivated to persist.

mm, but the lighter side of life is as important as what we call bare necessities. We do tend to neglect the lighter side when times get tough, and I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to endure bad stretches this way, but it's too easy to forget that it's not less meaningful just because we take it "less seriously" whatever that means.
