So I started saving orbs once I realized that a few more copies of L!Hector on the December banner would get me a decent shot at Arena tier 21. (Currently have around 200)
I'm Currently running a +10 Tiki, a +10 Reinhardt, and a +2 L!Hector, and managed to stay in Arena 20 for the first time last season.
After caving, I pulled a -spd, +res surtr with 5 orbs, which is exactly the IV's I wanted. It's becoming obvious that he's a better version of the brazen/wary fighter Sheena that I was building, and I can see a lot of uses for him.
Question is, should I continue with L! Hector, or go ahead and pull for more copies of Surtr while he has a dedicated banner? I know both are good, but I can't decide how game changing surtr is going to be.
Well with L! Hector, you have to deal with color sharing, and Kana and S! Innes don't really have the best fodder. Meanwhile, Surtr doesn't have to deal with color sharing.
I would summon for Surtr just because of that fact, but you probably won't get too many merges on either end.
Last week was Fire & Water season so I'm assuming either Rein and/or Tiki is Fire Blessed, thus helping you stay in T20.
I bounce between T20 & 21. You're going to need 3 +10 170bst+ score optimized units to have a decent shot at making it to T21. i.e. Neither Tiki and especially Reinhardt will allow that... unless they both run Rally Up Atk+ or the Dual Rally+ skills.
I was in the same boat as you. I planned to save up this month and next month so I can get L!Hector closer to +10 (he's +4 atm). I decided to get as many Surtrs as possible now since the chance of getting him is probably the best it will ever be. He makes for a great babysitter.
So far I've spent 245 orbs and got 4 Surtrs, 3 pity breakers (could've been 7 Surtrs rip.) and a Ylgr. You could be luckier or get burned with your 200 orbs. I would suggest saving up a bit more orbs and wait for any 3.0 news that might come hopefully in the following week.
I'm going save up and try again before the banner ends. Whatever remains after the banner will go towards L!Hector. Prolly won't merge Surtr until we get news on 3.0.

Ya, I had fire blessing on both tiki, rein, and camilla, and got a lot of kills with camilla.
Sad to hear that tiki probably isn't good enough. Not surprised about rein but I wanted to build him regardless of Arena considerations. This is my current crew, which is fairly maximized to the best of me knowledge. I used the arcticsilverfox arena score calculator.
I think it probably makes sense to save for Hector, if nothing else he gives the boost during his season which will gives him an advantage over surtr scoring wise. I think i'll take that advice for now and just see what the next week holds and re-decide at the end of the current banner.

Tiki is perfectly fine for getting into T21. I have a +10 blue Tana who scores the same as Tiki BST wise. The only problem is your Reinhardt. Casters (especially cavalry) have naturally low BST. Getting another +10 melee infantry or flier plus an armor like Lector or Surtr is enough to consistently get you into T21. Staying in, however, requires full armor teams, duel skills, or getting lucky with the bonus unit. This is my current core.

Sounds good. I'll look to replace reinhardt. Looks like my best option with my current stock is Effie. I have enough copies to currently get her a -hp/+atk to +7. Im sure by the time I get enough feathers and more copies of Lector i'll pull a few more of her. Might be a good option for that -atk hardin bold fighter fodder i can't find a use for...
I'm just gonna say that it took me over 100 orbs just to get one copy of Surtr and then I got up to a 5% pity rate before I could get one copy of Ylgr. So, while a 2 unit banner may be better than what we've had before, you can still get screwed pretty hard.
I'd say save for now, cause Surtr will be on a legendary banner soon enough now that Laevatein was on this current one. And L! Hector is still a powerhouse even at low/no merges.
