this sucks :(

I have been working on my Sothe project, currently 5*+3 but then Brave Veronica just had to come and have Dazzling + Wrathful Peshkatz AND Close Guard :( she's honestly perfect for the team I'm running Sothe on. I'm a sad man. But anyway, who do you think will be the best free choice?

Unless you have tons of orbs saved up then stick with Sothe.

Oh I will be sticking with him, for sure, but it's still a sad thing to see him being powercrept in his niche :( what about the free unit?

You mean the free summon for CYL?

whoever you want, personally Veronica(I'm also going for her) since she can be your second sothe and she can perform the same for a Cavalry team.

Sothe can still potentially outperform her using heavy blade and stat-boosting A-skills. Veronica will have a hard time getting safely into brazen atk/spd range because she'll never take a counterattack on her turn, and she will never one-shot anyone with a glimmer.

You're already starting Sothe, who's available as a 4* unit. Veronica will be a 5* exclusive, so will possibly require a bit/lot more orbs to even get her to a good merge number.

I'd say to go with Sothe.

Veronica is great as debuffer, but she can't get on Sothe's level as damage dealer.
And merges ofc.

Veronica still has halved damage, and can't run the range of A skills and specials that Sothe can. For Veronica to be used offensively she basically needs the Wrathful Staff B skill.

Her staff+Wrathful Staff setup is arguably similar to a Windsweep Sothe: in her favor she can potentially double, has healer utility, and has extra movement, but Sothe gets the benefits of an A skill and special and slightly higher stats (but especially offensive stats).

Sothe doesn't have to run Windsweep, it's just a popular choice.

They all are pretty gross in their own unique way
