Stopped beeing FT2 and lost...

Well this is rather off topic but I feel like I must speak about it.
I play FEH from the beginning and was F2P all through 2017. In the beginning of this year I bought a few orbs but nothing exaggerated..
Started working in June and wanted to see if there is really such a difference when spending money so I bought quite a lot of orbs. It didn't really change a lot nor was is fully worth the investment (around 350€). But since then I really had trouble not to spend orbs as soon as I wanted to make a few pulls...
I got a -atk L!Lucina and really wanted to try for another IV so went nuts again.. without effort.. Now I spend 600€ since June...

Today I deleted all my payment methods from google and have set me the goal to not spend more then 20€ per month on FEH. For now I want to spend nothing until I feel safe again...

Are the players who know this problem? How have you solved it and went back to F2P?
Thanks guys.

This shows that you kind of have gambling tendencies, which is exactly what games of this type abuse in people. My advice would be not to even set that monthly spending limit, because you will break it when a certain unit appeals to you or when a summoning session frustrates you with a high pity percentage.

Just don't touch that credit card again at all if you don't want to spend more money on this game. Also, play the game much less and find something else for the time being.

You might be able to find my post here (which is like 9 months old by now), where I shared a similar problem and it made me quit the game completely for a couple of months. The long break worked pretty well tho, as I haven't spent money on this game since my return.

Thanks Guts, you're right. I shouldn't touch that credit card again. Deleting is not really an option imo as I commute a couple of hours a day and all I really like to do in that time is listening to music and FEH. The irony is that I don't play FEH as much as I did before starting to work. But I'll try the no money approach for now.

I also ironically started playing FEH less when I got a good job, but also started spending money by that time. Everything started feeling less rewarding tho and much more frustrating and all the joy from getting a good summon was gone when I realized that a unit that I wanted cost me the same amount of money as a decent dinner in a restaurant with my gf or that it would mean saving more money for a new phone that I have been wanting for a long time. Kind of forced myself to set my priorities straight afterwards.

Good luck with your F2P rehab!

I feel your frustration. I was F2P for probably... Only about 4 months or so when the game released. I believe the first banner I spent money on was the second Hero Fest banner with Julia, Genny, Ike and Ninian; and only because my girl friend gave me a $50 gift card for google play. Ever since then I've been buying orbs for just about every banner with new units and all Legendary banners. I can't say that it's a problem, necessarily; it varies person to person. If you can't afford it then I'd say setting a budget for yourself, like you did, or just stopping altogether and strictly only summoning maybe once per month with all your saved orbs is a good solution.
Don't know if this will help you, just sharing my story.
Good luck!

I really will have a hard time to save up orbs. I admit that I was pretty lucky in FEH (even without payed orbs) and most often got 1 or 2 units in the scope of each banner, when I really wanted them. Only time I had over 80 orbs was when Myrrh was released and Ike on the legendary banner. I will relate more on luck or start really analyzing which heroes are worth to be pulled.
still thanks

I went through a genuine gambling problem starting with my beloved Rhajat's release and getting so much worse at Christmas with Tharja (1600 orbs, whatever that is in your currency) I was scared straight for a while. Slightly fell back into it trying to get YT!Olivia (5 Sumia, 2 Lute, 1 Maribelle, 1 Lene came before -Spd Olivia) by buying 420 orbs in 1 weekend. Bought another 140 for Waifu Lucy (no luck) but I have resisted buying more and I'm simply dumping all f2p from the new monthly and CG when that starts. I do have a good job and can afford all that but I still shouldn't have spent/be spending so much on some pixels.

As always the first step in fixing a problem is admitting you have it.

I'm also not f2p, but i haven't spent too much either. Just give yourself a budget and try to stick with that, i gave myself a budget of 80€ per month. Use your orbs wisely, know what you need and you'll won't need to spend money for many months and still have a good amount of orbs (i have over 200 f2p orbs and haven't spent money for few months now). And the most important thing is never go for IVs, if you get bad IV on a certain character don't worry too much, just use what you get

That's gambling man, sometimes you win, most times you lose, its 100% not for everyone.

Me? Fucking love gambling, been banned from every casino in my town for everything from card counting to gaming the machines.
That being said, I've only spent around $6,000 since launch, and I can give some general insight into the practicalities of it all.

1. Always assume you're not gonna get what you want.
• Keeping your expectations low keeps you from getting too dissapointed.

2. Don't do it unless you're okay with failure.
• Last year when summer corrin was released I dumped $600 into trying to get her, and with my last 5 orbs after having spent $600 I sniped and got her. Hindsight is 20/20, if i knew I was never going to use her after getting her I wouldn't have rolled.
• This is an example of when gambling can go wrong, but when you also refuse to cut your losses.

3. When you win, you still haven't won.
• The month after getting summer corrin with a price tag of $600, Brave Heroes happened. This time I didn't spent nearly as much, because I literally couldn't afford to. However I still rolled a blyn and lancina, and used my free summon for bike. Also ended up rolling for a second bike.
• Then another hector banner showed up, spent $20 and got two hectors. Worth it? Maybe to some, however...

4. It doesn't stop, ever.
• RIGHT after getting those rolls out of the way, datamines in the minigame showed Nephenee as a new unit, so not only was I already very low on funds for that month, but I knew I was gonna be hurting even more if she wasn't a tempest reward.
• Then after more news happened neph was revealed as a banner unit, which I was overjoyed by because shes always been my MVP. It sucked that she shared a focus though.
• Spent around $300 day 1, got her to 5+3, then used free orbs from everywhere i could manage, and got her to 5+8 before her very first banner ended. Very reasonable result comparing to summer corrin, right?

5. Doing it once means you're extremely likely to do it again.
• Then here came the dancers banner, spent another $200 trying to get inigo, got tons of pity breakers, including a hector. Eventually got him.
• Then fast froward to january 2018, when I stopped playing because it was bleeding my wallet dry. Stopped playing for a month, skipped a tempest trial, lost all desire to play. Ended up coming back when I noticed that a month of not playing didn't drop my arena score from tier 20.
• Then skip ahead to the second bridal banner, wherein I got ridiculously lucky and got 11 bridal sanakis with only two pity breakers. This shit is what enables me to buy more orbs."I got lucky that time, I could get that lucky again!" <- thats the death knell.

However, despite all this wanton wasting of money, had I not wasted it on feh, i'd have wasted it in another casino somewhere, or bought more dakimakuras, or new bike parts, or whole 6 monitor computer setup, etcetera and so on. However, by spending it on feh, I have a timesink, an enjoyable one at that, one that lets me get hyper competitive with other like minded individuals, where I can courteously discuss builds and units with one person, while relentlessly prying open someone elses mouth and shitting down their throat for daring to be wrong on the internet about a chinese girly cartoon game that I've spent $6k collecting pictures of girls.

It's all about whether its fun or not, cause lifes short, you could cross the street tommorrow and get smeared on the pavement by a drunk driver that was also snorting cocaine while getting a blowjob from a toothless transient he picked up in an alley somewhere. If it's not fun, or doesn't somehow lead to fun, don't do it.

Here's a theory about lethe and what i'd like her stats to look like if she were added.

An accurate summation of life I'd say.

A beast banner would certainly cost me a lot of orbs. Loving the Lethe concept, now if IS could add Panne and Selkie and give me a banner I'll be happy.

I feel like I know exactly what you're going through. I was 99% f2p for all of 2017 and only really started spending this year. Its become a bit of a bad habit of mine to spend until a pity rate is broken or on a unit that I may think I want, but won't care about by the time the next new banner comes out. I think what started it was the realisation that it was just easier to buy orbs then to spend so much time and effort getting all the f2p orbs.

There is one last unit I am after on the 24 hour banners, and I will spend for that unit if necessary, but after that I want to become f2p again.

But I do agree with everyone else here, especially Galaxia9 that I shouldn't be spending money pixels on a screen.

I've been to a similar situation, except I think I've max spent 60€ on the game. Though last time I spent money was on the first Legendary Lyn banner. After getting super frustrated at that banner, I just decided to stop spending money on the game, and I've been F2P again for somewhere around 3-4 months.
My best advice is just to stop spending money if you want to start playing F2P. I get that it might be fun to try your luck on getting an unit with money, but out of my experiences it just makes you want to spend more, to get something worth while for your money. But most of the times you don't get what you want so just try to not spend money and instead collect F2P orbs, and save them for units that you really want. ^^

The worst experience I've ever had with gachapon was the first time I ever spent more than the cost of a retail video game. I don't blame GungHo (developers of Puzzle and Dragons) and I'm happy to have given them a bit of financial support in exchange for literally hundreds of hours of entertainment. But it did not improve my experience much.

I promised myself that no cell phone game would ever again take up as much time or money as PAD. So far, I'm true to that with FEH. But I've talked to a therapist about gambling and cell phone addiction, and that has helped me orient my relationship with FEH a little better.
