No, they actually make it harder and annoying. It's especially true when you don't have a dedicated ranged horse counter and they just reposition them away.

i hate it when zelgius and hardin are too busy jerking each other off to move just one square.

Your fault you have no panic ploy? Isn't it a mistake not to bring it if you're in a scoring range with horses?
