Squad Assault
2 questions.
1. How many people have actually beaten this yet?
2. If you have beat it, how much have you spent on the game or are you F2P?
Sub-question, is there more past the first assault?
I'm completely F2P and I can't make it past more than 1 map. I only have 18 unique 5 star units, 3 of which are healers, and only 6 I've worked on with full skill sets. I also have a 4 star +2 Fredrick fully decked out. There is no way I am EVER beating this for a long time.
Answers
I've already spent two stamina potions attempting to beat the first map with units other than my main team in order to save them till later. I can't do it though. I simply don't have enough good units. Here's a list of units I can use.
Main Team (Full Skill Sets):
Reinhardt
Fredrick
Cain
Roderick
Old Team Members (full skill sets)
Hawkeye
S!Chrom
Roy
Lissa
Lv40 5 stars:
Lyn
Eirika
Leo
Saizo
Kagero
Genny
Mid Leveling 5 stars
Setsuna
Mae
Celica
Mist
Athena
If you can tell me how to do it with these characters, by all means, go ahead.

first thing: gratz on this nice 5* if you are free to play.
second thing: omg you have those heroes and complain about not making it through the squad assault? xD I am also F2P but have fewer 5* (playing from day 1) only reason I did not finish it yet is that I am lacking a 5th team which could clear the first map with weaker heroes I don't need afterwards. just hit 1 support 1 dd and 2 map depending heroes together and thats it. maybe you should consider using 4* as well. e.g. Olivia as a dancer. & work on Celica, Mae, Athena, Kagero & Eirika...

F2P here and I've beaten it all I did was manage my 5* and 4* units per stage like Stage 4 only requires 1 red mage to destroy it and I used Katarina accompanied by 1 4 star and 2 3 star units Olivia Oboro and Cecilia.
Same for Stage 1 where I only used Frederick and Sharena the other 2 units were filler 3* units Lissa and Robin.
Stage 2 and 3 was where I used my best units since they were a bit difficult.

It not really hard if you decent units that counter color. Like the others have said just plan your units for each map. Don't just put your strongest unit on one team that is just a waste of units. Just pick units that counter the units on the map. You can see the map before you go in for each one.

I've beaten it also. F2P player with 13 x 5* (three of them I've actually upgraded).
Look carefully at the map organization before preparing your team. The ennemies are quite a challenge but
1 - they aren't skill built
2 - they generally have obvious counters
It was difficult but I beat it after a few tries.
During my last run I was afraid I wouldn't do it because there's a monster shuriken user + a serious navarre.
My Anna finally finished Navarre with Vengeance w/ 1hp left :)
Good luck !

Hey there,
I'm also full F2P I have a bunch of 5* but only 9 are really build and worth it.
I managed to beat squad assault with just those. It is very hard and challenging.
What I did is I just tried many times. In the end I knew which of my unit could beat which map. And I just used 1 or two units on each map. Then I filled in with crappy unit, even level 1 units. What I tried to do is to make the crappy units a bit usefull. You would be surprised how lvl 1 healers can save your life or how a level 20 3* sharena did a rally that allow me to beat a level.
Usually 1 or two units are enough to beat each map but it's probably gonna take you many tries to figure out which.
And I recommand you try to keep your best units for the latest maps.
To give you an example.
1st map can be done with the following :
- 1 green melee unit that can kill jagen in 1 round ( honestly I used a very crappy hawkeye and it worked ).
- 1 blue unit that can at least 1 hit from marth ( I used a corrin F with swordbreaker and she is just 4* )
- 1 ranged DPS, an archer or a blue mage would do the trick.
Round 1 bait the jagen with green unit.
Round two retreat and all units in lower corner except for the green that you send on the uper corner (and you don't need to touch it ever again).
Then it's just a matter of baiting the 2 swordsman into your blue melee and use your range dps to finish him. And maybe if your blue guy is tanky enough you won't even need a ranged dps.
For the second map I just had a blue mage take care of xander and leo, I used a level 39 masked marth with 0 build to kill camilla and I had a lucius (one of the worst healer btw ) to tank the hit from Leo to protect my team and then heal my blue mage back.
It's just a matter of figuring which hero are gonna work on each map. Sometimes a 4* level 40 hero with no build can kill some units.
Or for instance there is a map where there is a fae, any falchion user can beat her easy even without a build ).
It just takes time to figure it out.

Hey, F2P player here. I've beaten this mode on the third try I think, with about 19 5*, with a third fully built, a third full build but with random builds, and the remaining being very average. The best advice that I can give you is 5* are not everything, most of the time, 2 or 3 good units can't take over any of these maps, if you have good movement and supports skills. 4* and even some 3* can carry them and make the difference. Any dancer can make a huge difference. And try to plan, as you can know maps and units beforehand. Good luck !

As with what everyone said, as long as you properly plan out your units, everything should be fine. E.g.
My first team was just a really shitty armor emblem, with only a 5* Effie and 4* Zephiel of importance. For the other maps, just use units whom directly countered the enemy units (even if they're 4*s). Towards the 5th map, I still had my stupidly powerful horse emblem and OP infantry team still readily available.
Its literally just resource allocation and thinking ahead. Im F2P as well, but I barely used any of my 30 5* units, most of them were just 4* units whom had situational skills that suited the situation (looking at Narcian here and his lance breaker)
Literally just look up on Youtube, and copy some other person's attempt, but substituting your own way more powerful units instead of using theirs. (NOTE, you will more than likely fail a few times before completing it. It took me 2 proper tries before I finally understood how to successfully complete it)
(PS, with decent strategies and units, SIs aren't even 100% required)

I beat this on the 3rd try i think, and im F2P, i play since the realese date, and have around 35 5*, and my main arena team is merged, so i dont know if its a good comparison or not.
But as others have said, its definitly possible to do it, lv 40saremore important than 5*, and counter skills ork better than just raw stats, keep that in mind.
Onto your second question, no, there isnt anything past the 1st assault yet, though thats sure to change soon i belive.

Not Free to play, it took me 4 tries to complete were I failed the 2nd round twice and 5th round once. The characters have a lot higher health, and some rounds are a lot easier then others. This is just my opinion but this is what I'd advise... These are base on my memory so enemies might be wrong.
1st - Easy - blue cavalry spear rushes ahead with two red sword man advancing you normally. Easy to counter with your weakest unit.
2nd - Hard - Those four siblings are pretty strong with Xander charging from the top he has low resistance so a blue magic user will do. The others rush from the left with higher health so Leo and Camilla are harder to one shot. It's a good thing healing didn't scale or else Elise would make the other two deadly.
3rd - Medium - 1 bow, 1 red infantry, 2 Calvary unit blue and red. The cavalry unit takes 2 turn to run around the lake which is more then enough time to lure the bow unit across the lake spend the next turn to one shot the 2 cavalry units before the sword unit get to you last thanks to that forest slowing him down.
4th - Easy - don't remember but 3 units squeezing through a small bridge is easy picking not to mention one of them is a healer I think.
5th - Medium - This one screwed me over, because you can't use glass cannon mages which were my left overs. High Res with Wry and ninja.

F2P here, I have 15 5* (I just upgraded/obtained 3 of them in the last 2 days, so 3 are lvl 1)
The units I used were:
First map: Gunter 4* - Effie 4* - Sharena 4* - Sakura 4*
Second map: Nowi 5* - Masked Marth 5* - Olivia 3* - F Corrin 4*
Third map: Ike 5* - Legion 4* - B. Cordelia 5* - B. Lyn 5*
Fourth map: Zephiel 4* - Tharja 5* - Serra 4* - Hana 5*
Fifth map: Xander 5* - Ursula 5* - Titania 5* - Clarine 4*
All the 4* use their default skills. You can check the 5* builds on my profile (their IVs suck but I love them nonetheless)

F2P here with only TWO 5*, and i stuck on 3rd map.
1°map: debuffer Felicia 4*, Sheena 4* to bait Jagen, Virion 4* to do some damage against aerial unit and Cordelia 4* to finish everyone.
2°map: Jaffar 5* to deal Leo (very long battle), Priscilla 4* to keep HP full, Corrin F 4* takes Xander off and Selena 4* to kill Camila and help Jaffar agains the other two.
(these map would be simpler if i had blue tomes, i just have Nowi and Corrin F).
3°map: No heroes to take the archer a the blue cavalry off without dying in process.
My other units are:
RED: Olivia, Eirika, Eldigan, Hana, Alfonse, Draug, Lilina and Raigh.
BLUE: Sharena, Subaki, Nowi, Lukas, Est, Peri and Oboro.
GREEN: Anna, Beruka, Frederick, Cecilia and Nino.
COLORLESS: Kagero (saving to Navarre map) and Serra.
Any suggestions?

F2P'er having the same problem here. I have a decent amount of 5 stars and just lvl 40's in general but I'm still having trouble.
Some of my heroes are:
Fully Built
Sanaki
Hector
Linde
Lucius
Summer Tiki
Hinoka
Alm
Delthea
Roderick
Anna
Sharena
Spring Xander
Partially leveled units that might be useful
Michalis (lvl 27, 5*)
Summer Elise (lvl 31, 5*)
Lachesis (4*, kinda sucky but good for heals)
Some spare Jeorges and Kleins (4*, above lvl 20)
a crappy raigh used on the fourth map as a filler, actually kinda useful XD
4* lvl 25 Effie
4* lvl 34 Alfonse
5* lvl 27 Chrom
4* lvl 25 Berkut
4* lvl 39 Clarisse
Got any tips for how and when these heroes should be used? Thanks!

Map 1
Delthea
Summer tiki
Strong 4 star blue unit
Weak waste unit
Use summer tiki to take Jagens first hit, finish with Delthea while tiki retreats. Distract Caeda with blue while Delthea kills Marth. Finish Caeda with Delthea.
2 map
Alm
Sharena
Strong 4 star blue mage
Healer
Use alm to kill Camilla, sharena distracts Xander. Blue mage attacks Leo. Healer to help sharena and blue mage respectively.
3 map
Linde
Ranged Unit good at taking out archers
Blue tank unit
Anna or spring Xander
Use your ranged unit that's good against archers to kill the archer first turn. Then use your blue tank unit to distract the reds while linde mows them down, take out the blue Calvery with Anna
4 map
Sanaki
Anna or spring Xander
Healer
Hinoka
Use hinoka to kill chrom, sanaki to kill Frederick, spring Xander to kill Lissa. Healer keeps everyone alive.
Map 5
Hector
Roderick
Support unit
Support unit
Have hector go left and Roderick go right. Take out the thief with Roderick. Then Navarre. Hector cleans house on the left. Use support units to boost Roderick, but keep them out of danger.
Good luck, hope this helps! You might fail a couple times, but just learn from your mistakes, and position your units better next fight.

It's definitely tough, I failed at least 20 times. But, as long as you have the right team together, you can learn where to put your units to win. Thankfully the team never changes, so once you learn the right moves, it's easy to clear. If you only had roy at 9 hp left, then you should be able to clear the map with a few more tries. It's only a problem when you get destroyed by the other team.

I am F2P, and at the time I beat it I only had 9 5 star players, only 4 were equipped with full skill sets, the rest were stock. I have a lot of 4 star level 40's though, and I used them to clear it.
The second one is much harder unfortunately. I've cleared 3 of the 5 with ease, but I just don't have the people left to clear the 4th.
It's all about managing your best units, and finding suitable smaller units to compliment. I spread my units out, so I had one of my fully equipped units on each map, then found suitable compliments to get the enemies weakness. It took me at least 15 to 20 fails to perfect my units and strategy, but eventually it clicked into place. If you have all those 5 stars and fully equipped units, you should have an easier time.
