+SPD or +ATK gaius?

I'd go with +Attack. His speed is already pretty high, not to mention you can still refine his dagger for more speed.

Planning on doing the same thing, since Gaius is not good for skill inheritance and I don't like sending characters home.

It depends on the build you want to run with, but +Attack is the better choice I think.
