+SPD Eldigan

Okay so, Eldigan broke my pity chance while I'm pulling for Noire (6% chance) but I have been wanting for a solid red horse unit anyway, so a few tips on how to build him would be appreciated

EDIT : I'm sorry, the bane is RES

Nothing wrong with these IVs. His speed doesn't matter unless you're trying to make him into a speedy red unit, and his res doesn't matter unless you're trying to use him with Distant Counter.

Don't know much about Eldigan since I've never had him, but I'm sure he can work with pretty much any "recommended" build

You can make him fast... Or just give him Dark Mystletainn, Bonfire, Brazen Atk/Def, and Vantage. Let him spam Bonfire.
B-Slot can be whatever.

Report

Hm...

+Spd can definately be used to his advantage if done right; I'm pretty sure there's at least one way to make a speedy Eldigan.

But here's what I would do:
I'd give him Double Fury and then Poison Strike and Savage Blow. It's purpose is not meant to kill immediately, but rather get his HP under half safely after combat while damaging other units so Wings of Mercy units can swoop in and get kills. If you have a singer/dancer with Wings of Mercy, they can sing/dance Eldigan so he can blow up someone with Ignis after the first round of combat he goes into. (Ignis will be ready to go after his first combat since he's slow and prone to be doubled, but his high defense would let him live.)

Report

That's a clever use of double fury! But I think it's better with def or res smoke or a second savage blow unless you're scared of people's vantage. Guard is highly recommended to enable him to survive two counterattacks without risk of getting hit with a vengeful bonfire or some Regnal Astra or etc.

By the way, don't opponents need vantage if he's going to ignis them in the same turn after getting danced?

Report

Yeah, they'd need Vantage, but we can always swap around seals and skills to see what works better more often.

I could use Guard with the Savage Blow C skill and Poison Strike Seal, or I could use Hardy Bearing with the same set and ditch Guard, or I could ditch Poison Strike and keep Guard and Hardy Bearing. I'd also recommend Def smoke specifically, but it's exclusive to Seasonals. Res Smoke is exclusive to Legendaries.

Report

I find poison strike to be rather dubious except on arena defense, but if you like it, all power to you. If some teammate of mine can't one-round that unit after Eldigan has smashed him in the face, something doesn't seem right about the way this has all been played.

Also, if he plans to get doubled, how about deflect melee?

Report

Deflect Melee can work, but it makes it not as easy to get under 50% HP with it. (Key word: as) It's still easy, but I feel like there would be times where it could fail horribly because of it. (Double Fury Damage wouldn't be enough to knock him under half health on occasion.)

But yeah, it is up to you on how you want this to work.

Report

I see. I would probably prefer guard, then. His def is great, now just make sure someone doesn't hit him with some massive bonfire or something like that

Double fury + hone cavalry + spd+3 seal = 43 spd, so you can try that route.

Alternatively, fury + brazen atk/def looks pretty nice to me. Maybe stick pavise or escutcheon on there to try to absorb an enemy special? That last bit seems gimmicky.

I would built his Fury 3 refine with LnD A-slot, which is exactly what I have on my +spd/-res Eldigan. You're basically gaining +8/+8 Atk/Spd for a measly -2/-2 Def/Res. With cavalry buffs and a heavy blade seal, that's one scary horse unit.
