Is a -spd + def brave ike worth using?

So I got my streak broken by a Brave!Ike which I'm gonna use for merging with my +1 brave ike. but I'm unsure of which one i want to use as the main Ike
The +1 ike i have actually has neutral Ivs, so really I'm asking is this new ike with -Spd +def is worth using.

I mean my main hesitation is because i think he'd get doubled by mages a lot more, which isn't ideal with his low resistance.....

Getting doubled is the point to his kit so he can build special charge. That's why I went with a +Res/-Spd base for my +10. +Def is good too since he's gonna get that Hp back w/ Aether

Urvan's damage mitigation is a pretty big deal

He doesn't need to get doubled if you are using Urvan (-1 charge on your special) + Steady breath.

by a mage, then his Aether is fully charged and his Hp is back to full. Its just a suggested playstyle and not the only way to use him. If -4 Spd on an already 28 Spd non Armor unit is a deal breaker then merge or fodder him. I think his Atk is important for retaliation, and his Hp, Def, and Res are essential as well.
