SP bug through merging?

So we all know that sp doesn't carry through merges. Except for the sp gained through the merge. Meaning that if you spend all the sp on a unit then merge said unit to the one you want to use, you gain all the sp from the previous merges and gain thousands of sp through merging. Bug or just something IS didn't care to fix?

i'll just give you the play by play. i was merging some units to clean up the barracks, and noticed i had +6 on a unit with not ideal ivs. i spent all the sp (like 500 cause merges) and then went to merge it on to the new unit and it gave the new unit the + however much sp a +7 merge will give you. idk if that was intended or not.

If you have a high merge unit going into another unit, merged or not, they gain SP equivalent to the SP gain for each merge. So in theory you can keep feeding the merged unit to a new one and gain lots of SP that way. I don't think it's a bug since I've done some high level merge into vanilla units because I wanted to merge into the one with better IVs and instead of the usual SP, they give a whole lot more.

Skills carry over, and you are effectively buying skills with the SP, trading in a currency that does not transfer over to a good that does travel across. No, it is something specific they left in, they knew it would be in there.

If I have a unit that I inherited a bunch of skills onto, and already grinded up the SP to equip them, it would be really aggravating to have to re-grind enough SP to equip all of the skills I already had equipped. (Or, God forbid, I would lose the inherited entirely.) That help any?
