So Roy.......... disappointing.

Well particularly his weapon refine. Well I'm not saying it's bad it's just underwhelming for me cause I thought that IS would go with the Leo route where they completely forget about the old effect and give his weapon and even better effect.

So Do you think Roy's refine is good or bad?
and Karel and Fir can have the namelass blade + wrath combo which was a dream build for minerva but since she's a flier she can't inherit it.

Why would a better armads be bad? I like a lot his refine, there arent a lot of tanky sword units, also im tired of "one round everything or you're dead".

What were you expecting, Distant Counter? There's no way known that was ever going to happen. No DC weapon has received a refine aside for Lightning Breath+, which is one of the key reasons why Dragon Emblem is so frustrating, and is probably the reason why eventually we'll see anti-dragon weapons being added to the game in forms other than just Falchion/Naga.

What Roy got is anti-dragon effectiveness, coupled with Quick Riposte that activates at a 50% range. This means he can run the Hector build of QR/Vantage; for one thing. Roy was never intended to be like Arya, he's not designed to just oneshot you. If anything, he's closer in role to Chrom as a tanky assault piece specialized in smashing down Dragons and just about anything green.

I'm more than pleased with his effect; I just hope that male Corrin receives some kind of boost on his refine since he now has literally the worst sword in the game.

Yeah, and that is with the +1 Cooldown penalty. Imagine if, say, Expiration got given to all dragons... Well, not that I would take it, I mean, my (F)Corrin's Dark Breath is just too good to pass up, and she already has Distant Counter on her A slot.

And yeah, please all get one minute of silence for poor Corrin, whose Darting Blow 4 effect is outclassed by the speed refinement of any other weapon.

I hope they take a page from Fates and upgrade it to an universal Blow effect, to emulate the permanent +4 bonus to defense, resistance, attack and speed the Omega Yato gave to Corrin on Fates, even when s/he didn't have it equipped. I mean, Awakening Falchion has a universal +4 Bond effect, so why not?

And if they also made it ignore the enemy Spur and Hone boosts on Defense, to emulate the fact that it partially bypasses Dragonskin in Fates, it would be even cooler.

He got a new effect in the dragon effectiveness. AND he got a QR 5 effect. They are NOT going to give Distant Counter built-in on any weapon refinery, if they can avoid it. They know they are just too broken.

He's got one of the best refined in the game now. Uber Quick Riposte, Bracing Stance and dragon killing. If only his stats were a bit better he'd now be one of the best enemy phase swords in the game, add DC or Steady/Warding Stance in his A slot and he'll make pretty good bait. I don't really like him though, so it'll be a while before he gets his refine and without it he's not so good.

Roy isn't going to dominate the meta by any means, but he's still a very much a viable pocket pick now for modes like arena assault, and the dragon-effectiveness alone is such a powerful effect that I think you're underestimating. This is literally one of the better refinement options available and he's got a much better future ahead of him compared to Leo tbh...

On the contrary, Karel and Fir's nameless blade still remains largely outclassed by Ayra with a wrath build, period. So that's more of disappointment from me than Roy.

His refine is great in terms of niche functionality. It allows for an enemy phase answer to dragons (who mostly build solely for EP) who can bait and counter. His Res isn't the worst either, meaning he can take a hit.

Honestly, keeping it short, his refine is amazing if not one of the best refines to date; giving 3 great effects in QR5, Bracing Stance, and Dragon Slayer. However, no matter how great the refine is it's not enough to make up for Roy's own ineptitude as a unit.

Having said that though, the refine has increased Roy's abilities by miles compared to where he was before, so I definitely have to vote for good.
