I find it wierd too.
Owain was different enough from Odin, with a sword instead of tome.
But both Inigo and Severa are very similair to their fates versions.

I thought the Awakening versions were more speedier than their Fates versions, but it might be the marriage partners I choose, but I preferred the Awakening versions than the Fates

Fates toned down the stat growths by quite a bit as well as the amount of XP you get (I believe. Been a few years since I've gone into the stat differences of the two games, but I'm fairly certain XP was decreased by a bit). Plus in Awakening, if you were playing on either Hard or Normal, the minimum XP you could get from an enemy would be 8. Even at level 19 in an advanced class up against a level 1 base class, you'd always receive 8 XP, or 16 with Paragon(?).

Also like you said, the Awakening Trio were children units, but in Fates they were your normal units. Children have increased (And some decreased depending on your pairs) stats. So it wasn't just being better in speed, most of your stats in Awakening were probably better than in Fate.

Now that Owain is in the game as a permanent unit despite Odin already being a unit, I'm pretty sure others are thinking that it is only fair that Laslow (and by extension, Selena) gets an alt that is also in the permanent summoning pool in the form of Inigo (and Severa).

I would like an Inigo to make an appearances in this game (not soon, pls, my orbs for Owain), but permanent to the summoning pool unlike PA Inigo. His class was a Hero, I believe, and so he is able to wield Axes and Swords, but preferably a sword to match his mother.

I can only think of giving some uniqueness to him like being more speedy than his Laslow counterpart
