So, I discovered something.

If you go into a Rival Domains battle with nobody in your selected brigade, you get a bunch of randomly selected units with base kits and refined weapons. I recommend trying it out, it's fun and you'll always get something different to work with.

yeah but it does'nt always work out, sometimes I get a team of low res units when I'm fighting against mages,
it did'nt end well.

Nothing wrong with doing it for fun, you just won't get the movement type specific brigade that's required for the bonus points. For some reason I won't ever make the point cutoff to pass the map if I don't equip the specific movement type for the season

Actually, my gf found that a while ago, we searched around in game and found that it actually states that if you should not have a full team, or any at all, it'll give you random units to use. Nothing new, but just wanted to clarify they do state that it's a thing. It's basically for when new players don't yet have enough units to play rival domains with their own custom units brigade, pretty sure it works the same way with GC too. If you read in the Brigade's tab, you may find it written there.

I think it's worth pointing out that the random units are actually strong enough to win on the two lowest difficulties with autobattle. (The second one may require a couple tries.)
