So here's something I've been wondering about for a while now.
A lot of people seem to like abreviating characters' alternate versions with exclamation points. (Example: L!Ike) My question is why tho? Why not just use a period to abreviate things like people normally would with other things? (L. Ike) It's not that a don't like it, just curious is all.

It might have something to do with never using periods in the games, they use ! To indicate pretty much everything, though it might have something to do with the Titles of the banners too. Its Legendary Heores! Love Abounds! Brave heroes! No Legendary Heroes. Love abounds. Brave heroes. Ya feel?

"In fandom and fanfiction, ! is used to signify a defining quality in a character, usually signifying an alternative interpretation of a character from a canonical work. Examples of this would be "Romantic!Draco" or "Vampire!Harry" from Harry Potter fandom. It is also used to clarify the current persona of a character with multiple identities or appearances, such as to distinguish "Armor!Al" from "Human!Al" in a work based on Fullmetal Alchemist. The origin of this usage is unknown, although it is hypothesized to have originated with certain Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures, for example, "Football Player! Leonardo", "Rockstar! Raphael", and "Breakdancer! Michelangelo"."
Idk why we use it for FEH I guess it just caught on.

Adding onto this,
I remember it being a HUGE thing to use ! Instead of . When homestuck was popular because Hussie used ! When having modifiers for his characters using chats to talk to themselves from different timelines (ex: Past!arsenicCatnip, Future!centaursTesticle, etc) and it just sorta stuck for the fandom to use in roleplay

Fire Emblem has been using it for a while now. An example would be looking up pairs in Awakening. All mothers have the same children, so when talking about a particular second generation unit, you would put the father's name, follow up with an exclamation point, and then the child's name.
